Need help

I am just a hair over 2 years out and stuck at 168. My goal was 138-148. I know where I have gone wrong, but I am recommitted to getting back on the right track. I am looking for support from people who have been there, done that. Here is a bit of information on my background. The first year was awesome. I fallowed the diet exactly, drank plenty of water and got in lots of walking and swimming. I reached my surgeons weight loss goal by my one year anniversary. I suffer from Bi Polar disorder and my medications went out of control. Out of frustration and past bad habits, I stopped taking the medication and began drinking...A WHOLE LOT....My husband (god love him) went with me to the Dr. and she told us both that we need to get the booze out of the house.. She also put me on antibuse. So now on the road to sobriety, I need to get back on track with my diet. I have found my way back to my old habits of binge eating and I am afraid that I have stretched my pouch. (I had an R-N-Y) I need encouragement from people who have had similar experiences and to be quite honest I am not sure where to go from here. How to I get back on track with my eating? How much should I be eating? Any help would be great.

Thank you and God bless

God bless YOU for getting honest, and seeking how to get back on track! Compulsive overeating is a huge issue to tackle, and now you are adding to that complusive drinking...

Two tough things to tackle! I give you major kudos for realizing the need to get on track and for starting all over again at square one... I give hubby major kudos, too, for hanging in there with you!

Read any posts from the last three months or so from Janine J. She's further out than you, and got back on track, and has lost a lot of pounds!

There are others, too, who do the "5 day pouch test" to get themselves back on track...

God bless you and warmest wishes for success... don't try it alone....keep accountable here!

Lori

I too, am getting back on track and although I never got to goal i did lose 151lbs and maintained it within 5lbs until I got pregnant.  Now I am losing the rest of the baby weight and getting to goal.  I think I have stretched my stoma but I know the tool works.  So I went back to the basics of protein first then veggies then fruit.  I am doing very minimal carbs in terms of bread rice pasta.  I am only allowing them when I go out to eat on occasion and I am not allowed to bring home left overs. I have to consume at least 100gm of protein a day and plenty of water.  This is my first week at it and I am down a lil over 5lbs.  Not bad for 3 years out All the best Monica

Hi Kace, I am very happy that you are asking for the support and help that you need.  That is wonderful. I have not had surgery so I can't really offer that advice, but I just wanted to wish you the best, and say that I am proud of you for standing up and saying "I can't do this all alone, I need help"  that is the hardest part! God Bless you! Jeni

Hi Kaycee:

Your honesty above anything is going to carry you through and get you back on track for sure. I congratulate you and your husband for moving in the right direction to your road of recovery and back on track to a healthy lifestyle too.

As Lori mentioned, I had to get my butt back on track this past year and since then have gone on to not only lose what I had gained (25 lbs),but kept on going. I did not have a surgeon's goal nor a goal for myself no more than wanting to be healthy. I shucked it all at not much over 5 years out and gave into the carb monster and grazing.

Right before this past Christmas, I put myself on the 5 day pouch test and never looked back. I was scared to go through the holidays feeding my face. I am now at the smallest I have ever been. I am wearing 8's and junior 9's..still a sprinkling of 10's, but like who cares. I have continued to lose although this past week and I held my weight to a "t". I will be 6 years out on the 10th of July.

All I know if you are willing to admit that you are way powerless over food and commit yourself to going back to eating your basics like you did after you had your surgery, you will get yourself down to where your body wants it to be.

I can tell you this...I do eat between 40-50 carbs per day with never going over the 50. However about every 6 weeks or so I pump up my carb intake by about 10 for a few days to mix up my metabolism. My carb intake is from fruits and veggies, very low carb protien bars etc. I have not touched any flour products, rice, potatoes...you name it. I could not be happier and my body thanks me too!

Here is the 5 day pouch test and there are some good recipes on it too: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html

Best to you and keep on coming back here for support, ideas and any kind of help. We are all here to cheer you on! Bounce
