Jillie,
Amen sister! EXERCISE is key! Even with watching what you put into your mouth YOU MUST EXERCISE! I think it is criminal to let people believe you can remain successful without exercise. Again, it is what you can do regarding exercise but, it should be exercise and it must bring you close to losing your breath (still able to talk) and sweat and include weights. For the majority of us this is PART of the LIFESTYLE change!
I have wanted to chime in on this all day.... I weighted but, now I cannot NOT I must post.
Jillie shout from the rooftops! EXERCISE! people exercise! Any study will tell you the highest percentage of successful weightloss or maintainers EXERCISE! PERIOD!
protein, vitamins, water, portion control, and EXERCISE (AND SUPPORT)
Okay now I have said too much! ha! not really! I could go on and on and on! this is NOT intended to sound mean THIS IS THE TRUTH
Love you Cali crew~ Love you Jillie for saying the truth!
Do what you NEED to do today to REMAIN successful (and may it include exercise!)

I hear you guys.       I don't want to fail at this.  First surgery and I don't want it to be in vain.   So, it's back to water areobics or curves, which ever is open the latest or on Saturday mornings.  Thanks for the info.  I have no limitations now and I don't want to incur any in the future. Hi Shardon, I know what you mean by needing a variety of things to eat. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he greenlighted me to start eating fruits and vegetables, and even salads at 8 weeks post-op. I purchased a couple wls friendly cookbooks. Here are the titles and they are available at Amazon.com: Weightloss Surgery for Dummies (I am NOT kidding...it's a real book...lol) Before & After by Susan Maria Leach Eating Well After Weightloss Surgery Everything Sugar-Free Cookbook (this one I bought for myself and my secret pal) As far as exercising, I am in a wheelchari at the moment due to a broken ankle, and will probably be in it for another 8 weeks. My surgeon told me of chair exercises that I can do so that my weighloss doesn't slow down too much. DH was nice enough to dig out my ankle and hand weights for me last night.  Good luck hun! =)

First, let me say congratulations on your WLS success! WEIGH to go!
I have commuted this much and it is NO FUN. One thing I find exercise does is relieve stress. Commuting was very stressful to me. I needed good rest and exercise brings good restful sleep. I know many people walk during lunch or breaks at work this is wonderful. Just try it to fit it in and do not beat yourself up for missing. Try to be consistent but supportive of your numerous lifestyle changes. Walking at night works in summer months since it is lighter later still time for a great walk after commuting.
Food choices I liked beef jerky, dry roasted edamame from trader joes or costco, string cheese and sliced lowfat meat, the mock muffins(protein muffins) are wonderful.
Be well, keep posting and let us support you on your fantastic journey! Again, WEIGH to go! Congratulations on your 43 pound weightloss!

Let's plan on a lunch someday when you have time, even the weekend.  The only exercise I will get will be walking from my car to sit down to eat with you.   Hope to meet you soon too....Diane
