Well to all the ships at sea, Sinking Ships needs advise:

I need more variety in my food choices. I am tried of tuna, rice cakes, egg salad, oatmeal, string cheese, scramble eggs, protein drinks and a few forks of salad, watermelon, peaches, crystal lite and water.

I know I need more vegatables, but afraid to eat them.  I am 9 weeks post op and I have not started to exercise.   I don't know what i am waiting on.  Now that I'm commuting 100 miles each day.  I don't feel like exercising when I get home.

Well, I know that a change is gonna come.  I have lost a total of 43 lbs in 9 weeks.  I should be greatful for that, and I am.

Have you tried rolling a cheese stick in a piece of turkey or other lunchmeat, refried beans, yogurt (Fage, greek yogurt is really high in protein), peanut butter, or cottage cheese?  Trying to think of other things I eat. I don't know what stage you are in, but Eggface has a great blog with TONS of recipes and ideas...  http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/   I don't know if you can have it yet, but her tortilla pizzas are the bomb and so are her "bites" which are like mini crustless quiches.  I use protein bars to get in some of my protein, but you have to watch labels. I also mix Kashi Go Lean cereal with nuts for a high protein snack. Just one other thing, there are soy crisps that taste pretty good that would be a much better option for you than the ricecakes! Trader Joes has some and if you can find them, Paul Newmann brand has an awesome cinnamon and sugar soy crisp that is delicious with pbutter or almond butter on them for a crunchy treat.  Hope some of this helps! You are doing a great job so far, keep up the great work!!!            biggest hugs, Becky

Thanks for the awesome suggestions;  I really seemed to be in a rut, I would not think of anything different. Again, thanks for the suggestions.

Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and select fine markets.  I asked our market to order it.  Make sure it's 0% fate. :)    Enjoy. ---jan---

It's ok, you're going to get through this!

I'm surprised that you can tolerate rice cakes, watermelon, peaches and oatmeal!!  They have more carbs than protein, are you getting in all your protein first??  As for vegetables it was a few months before I started eating them, I was having a difficult time just getting enough protein.

I second what everyone here has said about Eggface, she's a creative genius with food.

I didn't begin consistent exercise until 2 months post-op.  Someone once gave me this advice: "Make the most of your honeymoon period to lose the weight!"   That advice has been like a monkey on my back since I heard it. I feel like there's a clock ticking on how long I have to lose the majority of my weight.  Even if you can begin walking, you'll begin to feel so much better....you'll have more energy and the weight will come off!

Good luck!!

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

My surgeon said to start eating food after six weeks.  He said I can eat everything except Bread and Beef.  (Even Soda, go figure)  But I am gonna look into the carb content on what I eat.  I do get in protein everyday, as well as cheese and tuna.  I want to add more vegetables.
