Good Monday Morning Cali

Good Monday Morning OH....are we sick of the heat yet? And JJ....shuddup about it only being 72 where you live....from here on out...and not for a while now have we even seen a low of 72 even in the night! Right now it is a cool 99 degrees at nearly 1 in the morning!

Yesterday it got a bit humid here and we could smell the Salton Sea....we got winds coming from the south east and peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee u does the Salton Sea stink at this time of the year! I remember when I first started teaching down here in the east end of the valley and smelled the Salton Sea...I was teaching 5th grade at the time and seriously thought that my students were just farting their heads off, but when I went outside....I knew it was something larger than 5th graders farting! 

So this must be my weekend of being a total clumsy old lady or something because I fell on Saturday and yesterday when I was out at the pool and my gf's boyfriend and I were talking about the sculpture James had made me for mothers day out of car parts when I lost my balance and what did I grab on too....like an ass I might inject to that, but did not want to fall again....the HUGE cactus that is right by the sculpture....now why I did not grab the scuplture I do not know, but my hand...OMG...it is swollen...it hurts....Jeff got as many thrones out as he could, but not all of them are out yet. Can you say a big OUCH!!!! I really think I lost my balance because of the heat just getting to me...and yes I was drinking water...it is just intensely hot here...won't go near that cactus again! For those of you who have been to my house...it is that super tall (over 10 ft now) one out on the back side of the yard!

So I honestly feel bad for all of you who have to go to work today...even if you like your job....us teachers do love having their time off. As Mr. Stevo says....it is only 4 more days until the weekend and that sounds good to me even though I am not working!

Oh and one more thing.....she thought I would keep my mouth shut...well usually I do....but I cannot keep my mouth shut on this one....today is our one and only Luana's BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

Well, it might be Monday but it's still Sunday for me.. I can't sleep. It's almost 2am and I can't catch any ZZZZZZZZZZZ's. We hit 104 here in the Sacramento area, plus all the smoke from the fire off HWY 80 towards S.F. The house has been closed up but the smokey smell has still come in.  I've finally began to walk one mile on the treadmill and it took forever for the sweat to dry. I refused to put on the a/c that early in the day. It was great to find the threads from those who have been Kaiser patients and I plan to drop you a note. Marcia/Vacaville

Marcia: Sorry no sleep.  I've been getting to bed fairly early but getting up like 5:00am with my Grandson, now that is early for me since I've been on disability.  We have been smelling a little smoke and this morning very overcast, I'm thinking with smoke... We take Nathan home to day in Vacaville, they live off of Alamo by Raleys.

Good Morning Janine and Calif Friends! OMG Janine, I know that must hurt!  Ouch! We had a good weekend........just me and the DH.  We needed some time alone without the Grandkids and just for us.  Although - I love my babies and kids!   We are planning a trip to Ashland, OR for the 4th of July to my MIL house.  It should be fun...........and I hope a lot cooler! But, yes the air here in Sacramento area was really bad.  It was a good day just to stay in and watch movies, etc.......although I did get a bit stir crazy. You all have a great, great day ok?   to you and all the Kool Kids in Cali Janine! Geeze, J, I am sorry to hear of your accidents. Hope you can get the rest of those cactus thorns out and your hand recovers quickly. OUCH! It was a hot weekend that's for sure! Yesterday was a couple degrees cooler than Saturday and I spent the whole day in the garden, from 8am til 4pm. I planned things to follow the shade as the day progressed. So not a lot of time in the direct sun. Took frequen****er breaks and wiped off the sweat. LOL So we will call it a WOW day.... Two years ago I simply could not have done that, especially in 100 + degree heat, and this morning I am none the worse for wear. Well, time to move along here and get going to my back to work Monday. Hope everyone enjoys their day as the temps start to cool down.     

Good morning Janine and Cali Crew.  Janine . . . OUCH!  OMG woman!  Take care and heal quickly! Today is my DIL's first day of her new job . . . YEA - HOWEVER . . . we are waiting for the babies to get up . . . because Myla has a rash on her butt . . . we're HOPING it's heat rash (we don't have air conditioning). . . and NOT chicken pox . . . we shall see what it looks like this morning.  I'm off to get the shingles shot this morning too (unless I end up being a baby sitter). Good morning Janine and all my cali buds... Janine - I am so sorry about your fall - yikes that has got to HURT for sure.  Just try to get all those thorns out - don't want any infection.... Happy birthday Lu - and many many more. Yesterday was not nearly as hot here.  Even spent a little time at the pool and got a few "tan rays".   today it my Nail day and a trip to Target then to an open house for Cabi Clothes....very nice clothes, a little on the expensive side but worth the $$.   Everyone have a great week. Good morning Janine and Cali! I'm actually up and at em with enough time to post this AM. Girl - you better be careful! Take care and heal quickly. You definately don't want infection. Yesterday was significantly cooler here on the coast. I'll spare you the numbers but know my DH is a happy man! LOL The marine layer didn't come all the way back in but it is hanging right on the edge of the water. I ended up spending 2.5 hours at a friends house getting her computer working again. She lost her antivirus and got a nasty bug. It's still not working great but it is working. Note to all you out there - stay up on the antivirus. We were also able to get Kandy out for a walk after dinner. It was a pleasant evening. Today is definately a back to work Monday. Should be a much easier day on my DH as schools are out and his route should be lighter. For me, Monday is always busy and I have errands to run at lunch time. Well, better get in gear. The time sure does fly. Happy Monday Cali! Sue

Cactus spines have a barb on the end. Try putting some gel over the thorn, wait until it dries and see if you can peel it away. Several applications may be necessary or you may need to use tweezers. Duct tape may also help. I use scotch tape when I have like pieces of fiber glass in my hands, using cold water helps also.

Good Monday Morning to the Cali Peeps: Up early again with my grandson.  It has been hard to keep him busy in this heat.  He goes outside to play in short time frames. I never knew you guys go a Salton Sea stink there, yuck.  Sorry about you fall, I hope all the thorns work there way out soon.  I know I had that happen once and it took like a month for all of them to ease their way out.
