Got Milk?

Just curious... who here drinks milk on a regular basis? My doctor says it's okay to incorporate milk into my diet so I jumped on it! I might drink half of a little carton of fat free milk a day. I noticed milk has a ton of sugar in it. I had no idea... I feel kind of guilty for drinking it actually because of all the sugar and we have been told that sugar= poison. Just seeing who all drinks milk. My Dr. says it's a great source of calcium and he is all for it.  I used to drink milk all the time- regular milk with half a box of Trix cereral or with Captain Crunch. Back in my prior days I would eat that stuff all day. LOL Hope everyone is having a lovely Monday. It's cold and foggy here in Monterey today.  Hugs, J

I LOVE captain crunch. Gosh how I miss that stuff.

LOL... Captain Crunch Berry was also good. THat stuff was the bomb!  I think I will cut down on the milk intake to just a few times a week as well.  Don't want any of my bad habits to haunt me like eating half the box of Captain Crunch. J

My mother used to make Captain Crunch Berry Bars.  Kinda like Rice Krispy treats.  oh, gosh just thinking of all that sugar makes my tummy churn and I haven't even had surgery yet!  She tried to feed my kids some of those horrendeous things and I growled at her!  She and I have a good laugh about it

I was a total milk fiend before surgery.  DH & I could kill a gallon a day easy.  Now...I still love milk...but it does NOT love me.  I'm so sugar sensitive that I can only handle about 2 swallows of milk before I get sick.  I've tried it all too...organic, lactose free, Hood Carb Countdown, regular, soy (wayyy too much sugar for me), rice...you name it I've tried it all.  They all make me sick.  I guess it's just the way I am now.  So...I get in my 2 sips when I can of regular milk. I say if it doesn't make you sick...drink up! ETA - I just noticed that we're surgery date buddies...except for I'm 3 years ahead of you...awesome date huh? Kristy

My wife and I bring home 1%.  It is a happy medium between fat free and 2% (I personally hate the fat free).  My frist year after WLS I would mix my protein shake (whey protein) with milk...Still do.  I drink milk before taking my meds.  Also drink a small amount before I have some coffee (to coat the pouch).  I will add it to my coffee also.  Brian

Thanks Brian! I need to start making my protein shakes again. I have fallen off that wagon and need to get on track with that. For some reason in the morning I have been eating my protein bars instead. I used to drink the achiev coffee protein drinks in the morning but I am broke right now and can't afford them. Thanks for your reply! Jaime
