Moving to Cali...

Hello All, Just wanted to drop in to say 'HI" and to see if there is anyone near Monterey/Seaside. On July 15th I am FINALLY heading back to the States after two years in Korea. We will be stationed in Monterey and I am in need of a support group (can you imagine two years without support?). I'm doing alright even though I've gained back 12 lbs. May not sound like much, but with my small frame the extra weight has taken me from a size 6 to a size 8. I'm not happy with myself. I would LOVE to get involved with a support group but have no idea where to begin looking. I need a good kick in the rear and to be with people who've walked in my shoes. HELP! Welcome back (soon) to Cali! There are lots of folks who post on this board who are up in that neck of the woods, so, finding support should be no problem...

Bex, Welcome back to the States!!  When you arrive, check out a group in Santa Cruz......I know that there is at least one. If you are willing to come up to the Bay Area (San Jose), there are three that I regularly attend and we would love to have you join us!!  You can email me if you want details or that kick in the butt ([email protected]) No worries about 12 lbs!  When you are back in your own element, with people who understand just a little better, you will find that the 12 lbs. come right off. Hi there. I'm about 40min North/East of Monterey.  My girlfriend has gone to a support group in Monterey.  She had the Lap Band. I believe she goes there because that is where she had surgery. I go to one in my little town.  Anyhoo. There is a support group at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Here is the info.

Obesity surgery follow-up group (preoperative and early postoperative)

6:30-8:30 pm. (second Thursday of each month) Community Hospital Conference Rooms A and B This support group is led by a registered dietitian with an interest in weight-loss surgery. The group is recommended for those who have recently undergone and those who are considering weight-loss surgery. November 8 December 13

2008 January 10 February 14 March 13 April 10 May 8 June 12 July 10 August 14 September 11 October 9 November 13 December 11

There is an advanced gastric bypass support group the fourth Wednesday of each month for people who have had the surgery at least one year.  Please call 649-7230 for more information.

Hello and welcome! There are a few of us OH family members from Monterey area. There is a support group that meets the second of every thursday at 6:30pm at the hospital here in Monterey. Let me know if you need any other information. I have lived here all my life excluding my little 4 year adventure down to So. Cal.
