We don't have too many regular male posters and for the exception of Groove Daddy I don't think any of them are fathers....I'm sorry if I'm forgetting someone.

I hope you all have a very happy father's day!!

Give your pop a call this weekend, and treat them well.  Father's are far too often unappreciated these days, in my humble opinion.

If your dad is no longer with you, like mine...remember the good times you had with him. I often pray that my dad can see me and all the big accomplishments I've made in these past few years because I know he would be so proud of me for finishing school and for all the athletic things I can do now.   He always tried to play catch with me and I was too girly and chubby to keep up.

He was an excellent man, and I'm very fortunate to have had him for a father

(This is me and him, I think I was about five.)

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

Monica, What a wonderful and heart felt post.  I am sorry that your Dad is no longer with you.  I know how it hurts to miss a parent.  I feel for you.  I love the pic of you and your dad.  Monica, I know that your Dad is watching over you and he is very very proud of all of your accomplishments. I am sure that he is so happy that you are now healthy and living life the way any parent wants their child to live life.   Girl, you brought a tear or two to my eye.  I will not get to see my Dad this year as I am leaving for a conference in Washington DC.  I will call him today and then on fathers day.  Have a wonderful day Liz

That is a beautiful picture, Monica... and what sweet memories you have of him. He would CERTAINLY be proud of you.... I know I am!!

I sent a little email with pix about my dad to the Press Telegram, they were soliciting dad tributes. I hope it gets published on Sunday, and I will take it to him.... for maybe our last father's day...

love you girlfriend,

I'll look for your tribute in tomorrow's paper, Lori.  I know you're going to treasure every moment with your Dad.  We all should, because as Tim Russert's sudden passing shows, any time we see someone could be the last time. Love the picture of you and your Dad, Monica!  You've inspired me to post my own.  I lost my Dad last July.  This picture of the two of us was taken in the early 60s.

I just read your tribute to your Dad in the PT, Lori.  They printed it right next to a picture of the two of you on page A3.  Beautiful!

I LOVE IT!! I'm taking it to him today, Julia... wow...He will be so touched... I wish they put the letter on the website, too, so I could email it around, but they only put the picture, and the longer versions of the abridged letters...don't know why they didn't put the ones that are in the paper, too....?

LOVE the picture of you and your daddy on the tractor!! Where were you living then? Looks so rural...

Happy Sunday!!

Believe it or not, that's in LA County, in the back yard of the house my mother still lives in.  The lot's just under an acre . . . Dad loved his toys!   I scanned the paper and emailed it (to your school address) so you can email it to others.

Thanks, Jewels...that will be great!

LA?? Holy cow... just under an acre?? I can't even think of where that kind of land is... well, I do know that Compton, believe it or not, has some HUGE properties like that, as does Downey where our oldest Pirate lives...

Look at you with a DATE under your name!! Hip Hip HOORAY!!!

Hi Monica,

I loved your post. I know how you feel about not having your dad with you. I am sure your dad would proud of everything you have accomplished. How could he not be? You are a pretty fantastic woman!

Monica that was super cool of you to post a fathers day thingie even though your dad is no longer with you. I love the picture of you two....I can only imagine you were a daddy's girl for sure!

My own dad is no longer with me either....I miss him a lot. I have a picture of him and me together the very last time I saw him on his 83rd birthday and he was dead a month later. He laid down for a nap and never woke. God bless him. That will be 8 years this September. I did not have wls until nearly 2 years after that.

I honestly wish my dad lived long enough to see me now. He never saw me trim like this and I know he would have loved it. My dad had a weight problem...I mean he was never a cow like I was, but he did in his younger years fight the battle of the bulge...in fact my mother always use to say that she would not marry him until he lost weight because she did not want to waddle down the isle with him. My mother...God bless her soul cuz she needs it....was super obessed with weight and if she was alive today....her size probably would not have been bigger than a 4 by todays standards.

Now as Liz says your dad is watching over you...I feel my dad is and my mother...well givng her the ole one two hand under the chin Italian "f" u......cuz I did it!!!!! My dad would have been thrilled and my mother would have been the one negative about wls because she would have had the attitude...."oh you could not do it on your own!"Such is life eh?

Anywho....I wanna know how the date went???? Any guy would be luck to have such a pretty smart woman like you!
