Coastal Center for Obesity

Do not go to the Coastal Center for Obesity in the Los Angeles area! http://www.coastalobesity.com/index.asp I have had a really bad experience with them.  I jumped through all of their hoops to fill out their on-line app, send in all of the required medical paperwork only to be told that I am not a candiate for surgery, with NO explaination.   I have been trying since the last part of April to get an answer as to why I am not a candidate.  They just keep telling me the doc said I am not a candidate and that the doc will notify me when he returns to the office.  Apparently, he has been out of the office since mid-April as no one had called be back.  I was hung up on the other day while trying to get answers. Basically they told me to look for another doc, that they could not help me.  I still would like to know why. I have medicare and the doc to help me was named Hajducek.  He is affiliated with Dr Milton Owens. I was treated very unprofessional. I discourage anyone from pursuing surgery with the Coastal Center for Obesity in SoCal.

That is really odd.  I have been working with them since early May, and had my first appointment with Dr. Owens the end of May, surgery scheduled on the 23rd of this month.  So far, things have run very, very smoothly for me (with one exception). Sorry you've had so much trouble. --D

I am glad you are having a better experience than I have had. Good luck to you. I just can't figure it out.  Why they are acting so nonchalantly towards me?  As near as I can figure, it must have to do with Medicare.  If that is the case however, why don't they just say it?   I have already found another doc and am in their process.  I will continue to search for the answer from Coastal however.
