Hey all- I havent had surgery yet.  I have acrylic nails and I wanted to know if anyone had them on during surgery or did you have to take them off? Thanks, Dawn

Hi Dawn!!  I had my nails off at a pre-op appointment and I commented that I needed to get my nails back on and a pedi  ( before surgery)and the PA said to wait til after surgery to get them back on. So I did. I don't remember anyone ever saying  no to acrylics but never yes either. Hope this helps. You might call your Dr's office and ask. Good luck on your upcoming surgery

Hi Dawn I have had acrylics forever and I didn't take mine off for surgery.  I had a fill and pedi just before surgery and the nurses and or people made many comments on my cute flowers on my toes and nails..also, one of my BFF just had surgery last week  (not WLS but major surgery) and she had acrylics and no problems with her either... Good luck....

I asked my surgeon; he said no problemo on false nails and/or painted nails/toes. I think with minor surgery, they use your nail beds as a gauge??? You're pretty well mechanically monitored with this surgery :-) Here's a cool thing, since my surgery, my nails are so strong, I don't have to put false nails on anymore...don't forget your calcium!

Well I didn't have them on but I sure wish I would have. I was going to get all beautified before surgery- waxing, nails etc. but never made it... i guess i just ran out of time. If you can, DO IT! LOL  Hugs and keep us posted... oh and make sure you just ask your surgeon what his/her protocol on it is. ~Jaime

Hi Dawn, I've had acrylic nails for over 10 years and have had major and minor surgeries and it was never a problem. I get all sorts of comments on the nail designs...lol
