Yes, take heed.  I wish I'd known to INSIST they get me up, INSIST they take out my foley, as soon as I got put into a room, from recovery.  Problem is I was VERY groggy for at least 24 hours.  They didn't want to have to help me walk, and would have  had to, due to the  grogginess.  You'll need to INSIST. Otherwise, it all went really well.  If not for this bladder disaster, I'd be taking long walks on the beach by now.  Best of luck, and take care.  We, as patients, really have to advocate for ourselves. Fern and KimClair--    I hope you are both doing much better today-----and anxious to hear about your post-ops... I think I'll try to print out this whole thread---to take notes to the hospital==== I really had not even thought about this.  My husband has ha several surgeries...so I should have.  I was worried when I heard that they put you, Fern on FLOMAX---as I understand it is strictly for men---- (my husband takes it)  Well--- hopefully you will be enjoying your soup---and long walks on the beach soon. Take care---and thank you, as always for the info. ~~~~Lori

Everytime I have surgery and when there is a catheter in me for an extended period of time, I have an extremely hard time unrinating. I would seriously call your doctor this morning about it. I had to be pumped and pumped and catherized to elminate.....as hard as it sounds, you have to learn to relax for a while.....I still get pee freeze when I in public or some rattles the door at work...WORST!!! And I am thinking...how do I tell the person on the other side of the door...do you  mind I am relaxing????? ROTFLHope your problems resolves soon!

Oh and we can do the pee pee dance for you.....the boards were doing it for me when I had my first reconstructive surgery......they would not release me until I did!

A local urologist catherized  this morning.  Very, very painful.  Wants to keep it in for a couple of days.  Sorry you've been thru this too.  Fern
