Hi All...I am 3 weeks pre-op and I have just started my iron supplements.  My question is I'm supposed to take 65 mg...however the only iron chewables I could find are 27mg each.  I have been chewing 2 tablets a day, however should I up it to 3 or just stay at the 2?  Is it better to be over or under? Also, anyone have any recommendations on what the best chewable multi-vitamin, calcium and B12 there are? Any and all information for someone 3 weeks out would be great.   Thanks, Star

Hi Star Glad you are doing well....congrats on being a loser and welcome to the bench. Now, When I started the Iron I can't remember what I started with but it wasn't chewables.....it was just regular iron tabs but they were to hard on my bowels so I quickly switched to the SLOw FE iron tablets and take one each morning and have no problems with those....I did use chewable vitamins in the beginning - but I used the gummy ones  and the regular ones were way to tart for me.  I got so sick of those I switched to the Womens Formula One-A-Day and those work great for me...now for B12 I use the Trader Jose sublinguals - they are 500mg each so I take 2 tabs once a week.  And Calcium, in the beginning i just ate 2 Tums - the ones high in calcium and Dr Ali said that was fine.  I switched to Citracal creamy Bites and fell in love with those but low and behold they quit making them so I may be switching to regular calcium pills or go back to tums once my citracal is gone.... I don't know if this helped.  I had no problems taking pills after surgery but alot of people do.   Take care and good luck.
