Holly,
Insurance will not usually pay for it unless it is medically necessary. They will pay for a panni if you have rashes and boils. There needs to be significant documentation to prove it. The documentation should include photos of said skin breakdown as well as prescriptions that you take for it also.
I don't mean to be a gloomy gus but usually that is how it works.
best of luck
Liz
I only need the girls done but "Medically necessary" is the words and meanings that I have to play with. My insurance says its covered if it is a result of a disease. Obesity is a disease right? Im going to the plastics office with the legal paperwork so hopefully he can play with the words for me. I was just wondering if there is someone who has an insurance that will pay for it so I can switch it.
Holly
Hi Holly, I can tell you from my personal experience most insurance companies won't pay for plastic surgery. I work for United Healhcare/PacifiCare and when I met with my PCP she told me not even to bother, the insurance co. would not pay (I knew this anyway but I thought I would give it a try) If you have problems, rashes, etc you might get the panni removal covered but that's if you really have problems. I decided to self pay for my TT/BL and I can honestly say it is the best investment in me that I have ever done. I have a name of a Great plastic surgeon here in Orange County, if you are intersted let me know and I will send you his information. Good Luck it surley doesn't hurt to try. Kathy
