OT: Dad update, etc

Hi California!

I've been so busy with the end-of-year projects that I have not had time to really keep in touch here as much as I would have liked, but, I feel an update is in order for all of you loving supporters of my dad's situation.

It's hard to believe, but he had his final radiation treatment yesterday! It was really a grueling 12 weeks for him, following a grueling hospital stay of about a month prior to that. For an 82 year old man, with Parkinson's and cancer, this has been an ordeal.

Making it easier has been the support of our whole family, but that has been grueling as well. Each of us kids (3) and the grandkids (3) took turns helping with the driving... for me, it was a 120 mile round trip on my drive-days. My awesome secretary/friend at work always helped me with the needed scheduling so that I could have the time needed to do my part.

And you all have been out there praying and sending your well-wishes... I really cannot thank you enough! God's grace has taken us through this time, and has even brought the family closer together.

There will be a day when I will post that my dad has passed on to heaven, but that day is not today, and it probably will not be in the near future thanks to the wonders of medical science in treating cancer.

God bless you each today... and take the time to love on your family and friends while they are here.

love you!!

Lori, and family

Go ahead and schedule something and let me know, ok?  We're moving at the end of the month, and then in early August driving up to Big Basin Redwoods to go camping w/family for a week. Not sure how free my time w/be during the week.  Lots going on at work...bah!  But do let me know ok, and I'll see what I can do, thanks for letting me know! xo

LORI

I AM SAYING PRAYERS FOR YOU AND YOUR DAD. HE IS SUCH A TROOPER TO GO THROUGH ALL THIS AT ANY AGE BUT TO BE ABLE TO TAKE IT AT 82 WOW WHAT A GUY. I KNOW ITS NOT EASY TO DO THIS FOR YOU OR YOUR FAMILY.

I HAVE BEEN WHERE YOU ARE WITH BOTH OF MY PARENTS AND IT WAS JUST ME DOING THE RUNNING AROUND AND I AM SO GLAD I DID WHAT I DID.

ONE DAY IN THE DISTANT FUTURE YOU WILL SIT AND THINK BACK ON ALL OF THIS AND SMILE THINKING ABOUT YOUR DAD.

YOU WILL BE SO GLAD YOU SPENT EVERY MINUTE THAT YOU COULD WITH YOUR DAD, DRIVING OR TAKING HIM WHERE HE HAD TO GO,OR DOING WHAT YOUR DAD NEEDED TO HAVE DONE.

I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT YOUR SIBBLINGS ARE HELPING YOU THROUGH THIS ALSO. MY SIBLINGS NOW SAY THEY ARE SORRY FOR NOT SEEING MOM AND DAD MORE,  AND WISH THEY HAD HELPED ME MORE.

LIKE THEY SAY EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON. THIS TIME YOUR DAD IS BRINGING YOUR FAMILY CLOSER TOGETHER.

THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE ON YOUR DAD. I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT HE GETS TO REST FOR A WHILE NOW.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.
