Just switched to healthnet - what is the deal?
my sister had healthnet, but this was a few years ago. I think it's more the group that's the determining factor...and you pcp. She and I both had greater newport physicians group and our pcp was Dr. Soni. She had Dr. Leport and I had Dr. Ali. My insurance was pacificare hmo. good luck! Look under "insurance" in your doctor's group.
Luckily - she will be using the same Dr./Group I had when I was approved - my doctor suggested the surgery to me and approval through them was not difficult. The health benefits are clear and they cannot deny that - I am poster child for that one! :) Thanks so much! HOW ARE YOU ANYWAY?? I know we met back at support group months ago! I hope all is well and thank you for your post.

Ok let me give you the 411 on health net. They are not bad. I used to do case managment and auths for them. So now they have designated centers that they send you to. You can call them and they will give you the entire huge list. If it is HN HMO you will get the auth thru your med grp. It does not matter they pay as the medical group will be contracted with a specific group or groups that they use. The medical group can determine the requirements such as preop education ( very important) as well as a 6 month montiored wt loss program.
Here is the link to hn bariatric policy.

It is really pretty to the point.
