This is something I have wondered since there are so many choices now.

So good to hear you are satisfied with the RnY.  Have you had any complications??  So many seem to want revisions.......

I have tons of problems. Some food make work today but not tomorrow. The other day I went to lunch with my friend to chilies. I had BBQ chicken. PLAIN. Nothing on it. Checking and a few bites of vegies. I got so sick it was not fun. I am 3 years out and know what I can eat and what I can't. Yet that day chicken was a nono Go figure! Also sometime eggs works and other days they don't. There is no way of telling what day it going to be. Sugar is a big NO NO for me, in any amount. If drink warm water or room temp. in the morning my pouch is ouchie all day. It has to be COLD first thing.

So many other small things I could go on for hours, but wont do that to you. I am no even thinking about revisions. I still follow my doc's rules and am very happy with how far I have gone.

I AM ONE THAT HAS COMPLAINED IN THE PAST AND PRESENT, AND PROBABLY IN THE FUTURE.  AND HAD A FEW PROBLEMS BUT 99% OF MY MEDICAL PROBLEMS WERE NOT FROM THE SURGERY.

I BELIEVE THEY WOULD HAVE HAPPENED SURGERY OR NOT I THINK.  I HAVE GAINED BACK 45 LBS AND MY STOMA HAS STRETCHED OUT. BUT IF I HAD IT TO DO OVER AGAIN I WOULD HAVE THE SAME SURGERY.

I WOULD HOWEVER EXERCISE MORE AND MADE BETTER CHOICES IN MY EATING HABBITS AND TRIED MY HARDEST TO HAVE GONE TO SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THE RNY IS THE BEST, IT WAS ME THAT DIDN'T LIVE UP TO THE SURGERY. I JUST WISH I COULD HAVE IT DONE ALL OVER AGAIN AND START FRESH.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.

Hi, I'm 4 years out from RNY and with the available info out there, I'd probably still pick rny. What I wish is that there were more long term studies on all of the different types of surgery. DS would be very tempting, but at the time of my research, the possiblities of malnutrition were a real problem.
