Hello, I live in San Jose, CA but am in the Kaiser So SF WLS program and have been tasked with loosing 35-40 pounds prior to getting my surgery date.  I am really struggling with the 1200 calorie diet and need to exercise. I belong to AVAC (Almaden Valley Athletic Club) and would love to find someone to work out with there. Or just go on walks/hikes with.  Looking for someone to help keep each other accounted for and motivated. Please email me if you are interested; it would be great to give/get support in this weight loss journey! Lisa San Jose 46 yo [email protected]

Hi, Lisa.  I also live in San Jose, but I go to the YMCA.  However I would be interested in a buddy to do some walking, especially if I can bring my dog - who could also use the exercise!  Why don't you PM me at [email protected], and we'll talk schedules. - Carol

Lisa~ Ditto, girlie!!  I belong to 24 hour, but would like to walk and talk in our area!  A buddy would really be great as I am trying to get ready for the Wharf to Wharf race (I walk due to a broken knee...no running allowed!) but would like to improve my time. Email to nursygirls@ yahoo.com and let's talk schedules! Anjanette

You are doing the Wharf to Wharf??? Girl, that is SO cool! Impressive! Carol and I have already made a date to walk this coming Tuesday at 630pm in the Canpbell area. A chance to meet each other (and her beautiful lab) and see what exercise goals we can work out together. If you would like to join us, write me at lisazizi AT yahoo DOT com and I will send you the details. I am also working on setting up a San Jose support group - just an FYI if you are interested. My schedule: I work full time and drive all over the Bay Area.  Typically I can exercise at 6:30pm...depends on the date.  I can also do some times on the weekends.  Let me know your schedule - looking forward to your reply!

What?!  Of course you could do the Wharf to Wharf!!  Think about how many times that you walked the mall!!  Great Mall is at least 6 miles!! Think about it..........would definitely speed up the weight loss and get you to your goal!  You don't have to train hard, just consistently. The first year that I did Wharf to Wharf, I was 1 year post op, did NO training, just woke up and Voila! at the race site.  I did it by myself as my walking companions seemed to have disappeared.  I was okay, proud of my accomplishment and vowed to do it again.  The next year (last July), I walked the course with a very good friend of mine and we had a great time.  She doesn't drive, so she is a walking fiend!  She spurred me on when the energy was getting low.  Actually, she and I did the San Jose Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon together also (13.1 miles with NO training.  We need our heads examined!!!!) So, you certainly could do the Wharf to Wharf.  Think about it (but no too long) because registration does close.  The email addy is wharftowharf.com.   The scenery is absolutely beautiful and there is great music along the way...something like 30 bands and its all kinds of music.  I smell a goal!! Have a great day.  Will email a little later!! Anjanette

Ok...are you sitting down? I REGISTERED!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! *insert me running around in my cubicle in little tiny circles here!* It may take me 2 or 3 hours (I really have no idea) but you have inspired me. Thank you for your encouragement, I can't believe I am going to do this!!! You are right - it is my first goal ever in my life like this. I have never even considered entering something like this. Maybe watching it with a bag of chips on the road side, but in it??? It is a BIG DEAL.

When you get a chance email me at my personal email and we can talk about meeting, details, etc. I would love to meet you prior to the race. Signed: Big Girl Athlete Wannabe

no wannabe's here......just good ole girls with a goal!!  Okay....at a pace of 15 minutes per mile it would take me 2 hours to walk the six miles....I am more comfortable at a 16 or 17 minute mile sometimes even 18 minutes per mile so it takes me about 2 and 1/2 or 2 3/4 hours to do it all.  We will do it together and we will fini**** together...then reward ourselves with a nice little trip to downtown, some lunch, a nice view of the water and the notion that we completed it!!! Yeah for you!!  Now, let's see if we can get Carol on board also!!! have a great Monday!!  I will email you about tomorrow. Anjanette
