Hotels in Fresno---Near dr Higa and hospital?

Hi everyone---    I have a consult date with dr. Higa!!  (second doc --due to insurance) and need a hotel---close to his office---close to the hospital--- and if there is a restaurant for my family near by---even better.  I see lots of folks here have gone to Dr. Higa and Boone----so any helpful tips will be appreciated! Hi Lori, Which hospital are you having surgery? Dr. Higa's office isn't near either hospital that he performs surgery.  Susan

Thanks for your reply!!    I guess then for this first visit---close to his office~~~ i don't know which Hospital yet---and I do know there are a few in that area--- does he practice then at several?  I'll have to go to whichever is the "center of EXPERTISE" ( diff from "excellence") as I have blue cross ppo that requires that particular rating. So--- close to the office will work for this visit!! Thanks!  And---  any other tips for that office??? I am sooo excited!

There are MANY hotels in the area of his office. I don't know what price range you are looking for so I'd suggest to go to Yahoo or Google and look up hotels closest to his office. There are several on Blackstone that are within walking distance of restaurants. His office is closest to Bullard, which is a main east/west street in Fresno. There are several hotels that have rooms with 2 bedrooms plus a kitchen that are very nice. Hampton Suites, Extended Stay etc.  Dr. Higa performs surgery at Clovis Community Hospital and Fresno Heart Hospital. I have Blue Shield HMO and had to go to Fresno Heart Hospital. There are many hotels within a few miles.  Good Luck, Susan

Hi, my surgery is 6/6 with Higa.  I have reservations at the Towne Place Suites on N. Fresno Street.  My surgery will be at Fresno Heart Hospital, as I also have Blue Cross PPO.  I was told I'd get a "medical discount", but when I got my reservation there were no discounts, $99 per night.  I'm hoping insurance will reimburse some of that.  It will also reimburse gas and hotel for the consult, pre-op, op, and post-op.  Sounds like you're driving a ways too.  Fern

I have surgery w/ Dr. Higa at Clovis Community Hosp. on Tues. I too have Blue Cross PPO and my plan will pay 100.00 a night for hotel. Check your plan or call them to see if it is covered.  Kim

Thank you--- did you see that FernTate has Dr. Higa---at the Fresno hospital???  And she has Blue Cross too---so I guess I'll  find out which hospital when I get there for the consult!  and I will call the insurance tomorow!
