help.. im stuck ... 5dpt?
hi all
ok.. here is the deal.... i am 3 months post-op... im 5'10 day of surgery weighed 301... i have lost 70 lbs in 3 months..... i have been stuck at the same weight for almost 2 weeks... isnt it a bit early for this type of stall? 3 months? i have done some walking and just started a full work out at a gym 2 weeks ago.... im 52 yrs old and i really cant eat too much at one time... i eat very healthy however have been having sf, ff, frozen yogurt as a treat at night (just half of a small one)... i was wondering if that was the prob..... anyway i have heard of the 5dpt... should i do that already?? did anyone else experience this so early?? plz help... i have had this fear that i would only lose half my weight and then get stuck and not lose anymore? is this possible? i still want to lose at least 60 more lbs and for sure i at least want o weigh less that 200... so anyway this is my dilema.... what do u all think? thanx for the help....

You are way too early for the 5DPT!! Have you visited the February of '08 board? http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/02-2008/34 I lived on the April '05 board for at least a year after my surgery. I noticed that most of us had the same stalls, the same hair loss, the same losses, and the same wows. Please visit the board and see what others who had surgery the same time as you are experiencing. Best of luck.

Definitely too soon for the 5DPT and I think you are right on track for your first stall! Stalls happen and they suck, but you get through them. Are you doing your monthly measurements and pictures? Those are what helped me through the stalls, because the changes may be there for awhile if not on the scale. Something is bound to be changing as your body catches up to the loss it has done so far!! Remember too, that if you are exercising you could be gaining muscle while losing fat so that can stop the scales too!
Just make sure you are following your surgeons guidelines and getting all your protein and vitamins in and I'm sure you will be fine. Do you log your intake on Fitday or I use http://www.thedailyplate.com/ Just make sure you are eating enough, because not eating enough can slow down your weightloss too. That is a huge issue for me!
Hang in there and don't give up. It will pass! My last stall was about 4 months long, but it finally passed! Try not to get too discouraged and stay on track! biggest hugs, Becky
Surgery was RNY 5/21/07...I can be found on Facebook: anewbecboo or Becky Reddick
No 5dpt for sure Carla....but I am going to tell you this.....up your protien to around 100 grams a day.....drink more water and exercise. Your weight is going to come off regardless in this time period. I would stay away for frozen yogurt and all that kind of stuff because that is only going to sabotage you later down the road and you had this surgery to get healthy. Don't get frustrated.....I had this happen to me a lot and I was a slow loser. However you have to look at the big picture....70 pounds in 3 months? That is fantasti****ep your nose to the grindstone!
