Does anyoe else out there get hiccups when drinking and eating? Is it normal to have hiccups and burping when I drink water and after I eat? It's really unattractive and annoying. Thanks for you help! Jennie RNY: May 12, 2008 Surgery Weight: 230# Today's Weight: 217#

Hi Jennie, I experienced a little bit of that early out. My Surgeon indicated it is usually caused by eating / drinking too much or too fast or both. Maybe try slowing down a little. Good luck and congrats on being on the losers bench. Sue

I'm three weeks out and I get random hiccups all the time, not related to when I've been eating or anything, Dr says its just a funky adjustment thing. Your's definitely sound like your body telling you that your pouch is full (I burp when I get full up!)

Hi Jennie well for me its burping....I have always been a burper of sorts but when I eat to fast or when my pouch has had enough - then the burps start..... Slow down and don't eat to much.  I never had the problem with water.

I usually hiccup or sneeze when I am too full.  Best of luck to you! Don't worry about it being "unattractive"......you will get used to the sensations. Take care!
