Extra Strength Tylenol instead! What happened to your prescription for Vicodin? I always ask for it for anything middle of the road painI always tell them what I can't take before I leave the office.  If you don't have any Vicodin, call docs office tomorrow and tell them that you can't take Motrin.  That you need Vicodin because the pain is severe Hopes this helps

No it is not ok unless you would like to have an ulcer.  Sorry to be so blunt but you aksed a question with your own answer.  I know it is not ok.  You should take plain tylenol or have them give you a script for Vicodin or tylenol with codeine. Hope that the pain goes away. Liz

No problem Liz, thanks for letting me know. I just didn't think that ulcers could develop so fast? Can they? I know my husband had consulted with our surgeon's bariatric nurse and she said that she didn't recommend it but if he had to-he had to and that he should take it with an acid reducer  but not for a prolong period of time.

Yup- one day you can be fine and the next day - theres a hole in your pouch and you are in deep doo-doo. Logically one would think there would be a period where it would hurt a little- like that joke about ________ causing one to go blind and the person says they will just do it until they NEED GLASSES. So you might think...I will just take nsaids til it hurts a little, but apparently it doesnt work that way. Those aspirin sort of things work in 2 ways...one is that just sitting there in your pouch they can injure your "stomach" but there is a part two... the drugs in that class decrease the production of the mucous in your digestive tract that protect the lining from injury. So its a double whammy- sitting there "it hurts you" and then the second part is that it puts a stop to the normal protective mucous supply. So its a hurts-you part one and then a hurts-you part two. naturally you need to discuss this with your own doctors....
