OT: Ruby (one of our dogs)

Ruby got hit by a car tonight. Marcus opened the door and she took off after a dog across the street. She seems to be OK, it just barely clipped her, shes limping on one of her front feet but already walking better on it than she was initially and it is clearly not broken. I'm worried about internal injuries, but we just can't afford the ER for her right now. Keep your fingers crossed for her please! She is just the sweetest dog I have ever had and I would be devastated if something was wrong with her.

I do wish you a great and painless night for her. If she was only clipped maybe she is ok, but stressed, truma can do that. Keep a close check on her eyes and gums. The eyes should stay clear, the gums should be pink. IF they are white, that COULD be a sign of pain, or internal bleeding. I learned about this the hard way a long time ago. Just keep checking. I would limit her food and water, just incase.

I am sorry you are having to deal with this at this time.

Thanks so much Lu! I have been peeking into her eyes and at her gums every few hours and so far so good! I think she is going to be OK, thank goodness!

She didn't sleep too much last night, was up and fidgeting a lot, but now that I am up and about she is sleeping just fine curled up in their crate with Max! She was wagging her tail and trying to lick my feet this morning, so I think she is feeling fairly well!

Oh I hope this post finds Ruby resting comfortably. I bet Marcus feels just the worst too! I am sure she will be okay...I have had this happen to a lab years ago and she was fine....just keep and eye on her...and my dogs send your dog plenty of healing dog slobbers!
