Lori
Good luck to you - we are all behind you - I know how hard it is - I quit for several years and started up again.....yep - I am a smoker now and know that I have to quit again but I know that right now is not the time.....I will know when I am ready but you sound determined and ready - hang in there YOU CAN DO IT.
A doctor once told me that when a craving starts, pop a mint or candy in your mouth. The reason being that they soak the tobacco in sugar water. So that initial inhale when you smoke you are inhaling some of the residual sugar. So a lot of times, it is the sugar that starts the craving - not the nicotine. (those ciggy people arent stupid are they!) Dont know if it would work with SF candy - but worth a try. Or a few sugars is better than smoking!
Ok Linda. I know that you can do this, I know about all of the struggles you have and continue going through to get this surgery, and quitting smoking is just a small one. You can do it!! Think about all the great things in your future with WLS everytime you have a craving for a cig. (Running with your kids, smaller body, shopping, no health problems, etc) We are all behind you. You have my phone number, call me if you need someone to talk to or just give you some support. I am here for you!

Thank you all. This is an amazing site. I am almost through my first day. so far. so good. I haven't even snapped at my daughter. She is being very supportive (again!) I am trying to focus on the future. Loosing weight and being healthy. I want my legs to give out before my lungs for once. I know I CAN do this, and I appreciate all of the support you all have given to me.
Thank you so much
