Doctor Said Pain Not Due to Surgery
Well, I called the doctor's office yesterday because I started having pain in my left lower lung area when I breathed moderately deep. It started on Saturday, and has stayed the same or gotten worse since then. Now, to be honest up front, I also stopped the bronchial dialator medication I've been taking for probably 20+ years right after the surgery. I crushed it up and it is absolutely foul, and I can't force it down! So I figured the pain might be from stopping the Theophylline. He saw me this morning, and immediately ordered a CT scan to make sure it wasn't a blood clot, which it wasn't. He doesn't think the pain has anything to do with the surgery itself - it is not my pouch acting up or anything, so that is good news. However, while they were there, they found a little something on my right lung. It might be scar tissue, or it could even be cancerous. Since there is no history of cancer in my family, the surgeon said to get another CT scan in 3 months and we'll see if we can identify it a little better. I personally think it is probably scar tissue from lots and lots a cases of bronchitis, so I'm not worried. The good news is that there is no problem from the surgery, and now I know to keep an eye on my right lung.

Wow honey, how scary! I'm so glad it wasn't a blood clot and that everything with your WLS looks good, but you are a lot calmer than I would be on seeing something on your lung! I will be praying that it is scar tissue! I too have had lots and lots of cases of bronchitis!!! What did he say about the meds you stopped, is he ok with that or did he say to start taking it again?
Hope the pain goes away soon, whatever it is! biggest hugs, Becky
Surgery was RNY 5/21/07...I can be found on Facebook: anewbecboo or Becky Reddick
He didn't say anything about the med I stopped. I'll see my PCP on Tuesday next week, so I'll talk to her about it, and about the "thing" in my lung. I got so rattled about how quick everything was moving because he thought it could possibly be a blood clot, that I forgot to ask him several questions that I was saving for my first post-op appointment - which was supposed to be in two days. I did find out I can slowly start Stage 3 in a "few days". What the heck is a "few days?" Tomorrow? Thursday? And I did remember to ask him if I could now drive, and he said yes. Thanks for your good wishes! Carol
