Hello everyone.
I'm kinda wondering... What do the psych and the nutritionist want to know about you in order to give you the thumbs up for surgery? Help!

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

At the nutritionist appointment we just talked about the different proteins available and how to eat post op.  At the Psych he wanted to talk about why you overeat and to make sure you have enough understands of what is required post op to be successful!  Not a big deal at all.

They just want to know if you're in a mental state to truly understand what you're getting into....They also want to know the following: 1.  Do you commit to things and then give up? 2.  Learn about your childhood and try to understand contributed to your weight gain? 3.  Family life 4.  Eating behavior and most of all..... 5.  If you do not have psychological issues.... I know there's more but these are a few I can metion to give you an idea.

I was really pretty honest about the how's and why's I have eaten too much/obsessively in the past-  ("food was my friend") and now--- I have created other interests--- that I go to/run to--- if I am having those feelings.... Healthier interests..... ANd my Nut.  had me bring a food journal of the past week---and together  we created a good plan for me--- what to add---what to lower-- vitamins to add, etc.   She also had  these little plastic food samples--- like a TBS of cheese---so when I said "oh, a sprinkle" she said---like this much?? So I am now able to measure better.   I found both to be positive---and I was concerned I'd say something dumb ---- but they really helped! Good luck!! ~~~Lori
