Received a letter from BC/BS of California
Welcome to the CA boards! I have blue cross and in my experience the doctors office gives a date when seeking approval. It might and might not coincide with the actual date, but they have to give the insurance company a date.
So whatever the situation, I would call the office tomorrow and ask what is going on! Good luck to you and I hope that your surgery is soon....and keep on posting!

Hi,
I have Blue Cross of Ca. too (now it is Anthem Blue Cross as of Jan 1). I got my letter about 2 weeks ago. It is your authorization for surgery and my RN (nurse case manager that Blue Cross provided me) said that date is just an authorization date, your surgeons office needs to set up the actual surgery date. I got a call the next day from Dr. Higa's office and the date was set up for surgery (June 3). If you have your auth letter I would contact the surgeons office to make sure they received their copy and ask them to schedule your surgery date.
Hope this helps,
Kim B
