It's funny you should mention it...I was drinking Starbucks as I am reading these post.  A few things in general.  I would not take on coffee, beef, ham, or lamb for at least a month maybe longer.  I have told people think of your pouch as a babies pouch.  Would you give a baby coffee??  Why not?  Because it is young and developing and may not be able to handle the harsh bitter acid part of the coffee.  So test everything first.  And don't go hog wild on any area.  What your pouch can't handle at one time...a few months later it can handle it.  Extra patients with the pouch...enough preaching.  For me I started in on coffee after 6 months.  I would just drink 2-3 oz and have quite a bit of milk product to coat the pouch.  I would drink some milk before the coffee too for coating the pouch.  Fast forward one year.  If I'm at Starbucks I will buy a regular coffee ($1.75) with room for milk or cream.  I add a ton of sugar, half and half, non fat milk and Splenda.  You are looking at a cheapskate here.  I really like McDonald's coffee too.  I went in a few weeks ago and they gave me the senior discount (I didn't ask for it and I'm only 52)...72 cents!!!  I add their 1/2 and 1/2 and sugar.  I keep 3 packets of Splenda in my wallet for just those situations.  One last thing April...We have worked so long to get our WLS...be sure you don't go testing everything in the book.  Some of those things are what got us to where we are now or were.  Plenty of time...Work the tool.  Brian    PS  I was at the Safeway on McHenry yesterday for my Starbucks.  They have two Starbucks in the same shopping center!!    PSS  I will only drink 1/2 a cup.  I save it, put it in the fridge for another day.

I think I was a few months out, but my greatest sin is the Frappuccino Lights!  I wish I was a coffee drinker, but not too much.  Unfortunately these drinks have about 300 calories per venti (yes, w/ whip).  Since starting the 5 DPT last week I have only had two of them.  Not only is my hubby happy with the saved $ (3.90 each), I am not craving the carbs so much the last few days. If you can - Run away away from them.  Really, they are addicting!!!!

I have to say that I've not had any starbucks since surgery.  I'm just too sugar sensitive.  I can only handle at most 10g of sugar and the sugar alcohols in the SF stuff make me dump faster than regular sugar...so...SB is out for me. I did love my iced mochas though... Of course...no caffiene for me now!  LOL!

I seriously think I started drinking starbucks about 2 weeks post op.  I have never had a problem tolerating it........I started with DECAF sugar free vanilla latte, nonfat.  Then I went to regular caffienated but now back to DECAF, as caffiene is an appetitie stimulant.  Trust me, it is..........since on DECAF I noticed I am not hungry as often. My drink is a venti skinny hazelnut with one added pump of sugar free vanilla. When I want to change it up a bit I go with skinny caramel, with one pump sugar free Hazelnut. I have all the makings at home and save myself a TON of money that way.......... If you tolerate decaf coffee well, its a good way to help you get more protien in.  A Venti skinny has about 16 grams of nonfat protien and about 160 calories. Cheeers!
