Hey everybody, I finally got a referral sent (by my PCP) to HealthNet for me to see my surgeon. I am so excited and it's was wondering how fast this would go from this point on. I have heard because I have HealthNet HMO that the process moves pretty quickly if approved.  Does anyone know anything about that? Thanks guys!

My physician put in for the referral on April 10th and I got my surgery date today!  June 24th.  They still have to submit to Healthnet for surgery approval.  My one-on-one with Dr. Waldrep was today and when I left the office I had my date, appointment for hospital school, post op appointment and instructions for pre op diet and medications.  It was totally a rush!  Now I'm just sweating Healthnet and praying they don't deny me and make me do a six month pre-op diet.  They approved all pre-op consults immediately though, and I'm thankful for that.  I've only paid $5 to the dietician, psychologist and surgeon's office.  School district hmo coverage is wonderful - Good Luck

I have HealthNet HMO and the website says they require a 6 month diet.  How do I get around that?  I'm having the surgery with Dr. Charles Callery in San Diego.  I already went to the education seminar but I haven't gotten my referral letter from my PCP yet.  I actually have never met this PCP- I go tomorrow.  Hopefully it will go smoothly.  I want to get this done FAST!
