Proposition 98 and 99...filling out my ballot
Hey California voter...I'm filling out my absentee ballot right now. Usually I am pretty good at following politics here in the state. It just seems that both Prop 98 and 99 are good items. Both are sponsored by good groups and both are opposed by good groups (examples AARP and Farm Bureau). Anyone strongly for or opposed to either of these and why. I'll chose this evening after hearing your thoughts. Thanks, Brian
98 basically get rid of rent control. Landlords can raise the rents (with no justifible cause) to whatever amount they want therefore forcing hardship on working families and the elderly, they can evict people and not have to follow due process. If 99 gets one vote more than 98, then 98 is cancelled. They are trying to amend the state constitution on these measures. So , you want to vote no on 98 and yes on 99.
Without struggle, there is no progress.
Beeeep...time's up. I think I'll vote no on both 98 and 99. They are both suppose to be about eminent domain...example...not having the goverment take you house that you have lived in for years, just for some city to sell the land to a developer to use to make a ton of money. Eminent domain was (and is) suppose to be used to buy private land for schools, highways, city buildings. I think both propositions brought up rent controls, which really has clouded the issue. Just me. Brian
