OK 5DPTers, day 1 check in

So, who actually went through with it and joined us? Day 1 hasn't been hard, but then I didn't really expect it to be. It is very common for me to go all day without much besides my morning protein coffee.  So, that is how I started my day today too. I went to lunch with my mom and had cream of broccoli soup while I watched my mom eat the oriental chicken salad and brown bread at Coco's (one of my faves too lol). I ate my soup really slow, mashing all the broccoli pieces to mush and couldn't even finish the bowl, I was full!!!  Now I'm drinking a protein drink. And of course I've had water, water, water in between.  I've had a pot of homemade bean soup in the crock pot all day and it smells delicious!!  So, who else is in and how did you do?    hugs, Becky

Doing great Becky, but I would seriously watch those cream soups. They are high in carbs and fats. Even though they say you can have it....I just wouldn't and as I was looking at the cream soups, it is ones with no veggies. Veggies are my main source of carbs aside from a half cup serving of fruit a day.

Also when you say you go all day without much besideds your morning protien drink....well right there it is going to impede your wl at this point.

I am not trying to get down on you, I am trying to help you. I think you have said you still have a ways to go to get to goal. Well you have to EAT more to lose more at this point I am sure. Just because you are not hungry does not mean don't eat if you want to kick start your wl. Your body will literally go into starvation mode and hold on to your weight instead of reliquishing it.

I stay on a strict carb intake and after 8 weeks, I do a bit more carbs for a couple of weeks to trick my body and it works.

I am just making a suggestion to you for continued success. When I did the 5dpt....I kept it strict even though I thought I was going to die those first couple of days. I was a real carb junkie and doing the test really made me see the errors of my ways!

Hi Janine! First of all, never fear that I would take advice from you wrongly, I trust your opinion greatly. I'm so impressed with what the 5DPT has done for you and continues to do for you, so if you have tips...bring them on sweetie!! Yup, my problem is probably not eating enough, I've known that for awhile now and I let it get out of control. That is why I wanted to do this to get back on track. Well, actually that is why I first wanted to do it, then I went on a cruise and ate carbs and sugar. I don't regret that because it was a once in a lifetime thing, but I lost my best friend on that cruise and I allowed emotional eating to get the best of me with lots of carbs and sugar!! Not happy about that at all, hate myself for allowing it to happen!!! So that is now the second reason I needed to do the 5DPT.  I really want to work on the not eating enough situation. I need to get back to posting my food intake on Daily Plate again so I can regain control. I've been up and down the same 5 pounds for 3 months now, so definitely stuck!!! And definitely NOT done yet!! I have about another 45 pounds to go!! I will stay clear of the cream soups and plan on pureeing the bean soup I made.  If I do ok tomorrow with the liquids again, I might make it 3 days of liquids before moving on to day 3 foods. Hi,

So far, so good. I had an Achievone on my way to work. Then I had chocolate and a banana Worldwide Protein drink during the day. I drank a lot of water and had a iced green tea. I could of done without that but I didn't. I'm doing good.

Glad day 1 was good for you too! I was just reading some of your profile, you sure have come a long way drinking protein drinks on the way to work instead of soda!!! Woo hoo for you!!!    What's wrong with the iced green tea? I can't do green tea because of Coumadin and I can't wait till I can again, I miss it!  So glad you are doing it with us!!!       big hugs, Becky

I just figured that the green tea had some caffeine in it. The label doesn't say it isn't caffeine free. I am kind of addicted to this kind anyway and was hoping I can break free from it. I am thinking it may have to be on one vice. Better than some other things I have been eating. :-)

Yup, it's hard to stay away from caffeine when it comes to ice tea. I don't do caffeine either but love ice tea!!  But you are right, better choice than many others!!

I'm doing great... had 2 protein shakes today and 2 bowls of the ham and cheese soup from the website. And of course I have already had 64 oz of water. ALso some SF pudding and SF jello. Not too bad! Hope tomorrow is this easy!! Thanks for the support!! xoxo

I want some of your soup, that sounds so yummy!! Especially the gooey cheese blob you told me about!! I've never seen light Velveeta and how do you grate it being so soft? Count me in!!!  I didnt start the day with the intent to do this BUT, By noon I had had 2 protien drinks and 50oz water so I said  "Self why not"  so here I am with ya'll on this one.  So far for the day I have had 110 grms protien, 100 oz water and an extra 20 mins on the treadmill.  After 2 years out the weight started creeping (6 lbs ) so I wanna nip this in the bud.  Tomorrow I will go for the soup.  Not too bad today.
