Welcome to the boards!  You may also want to take a look at the Liteweights Forum.  Just go the the OH home page and scroll down under "Other forums" to find it.  It's for people, like us, who had/have relatively less weight to lose.  I think there are more lapbanders on that forum.  I had RNY with a BMI of 39 because of the potential problems with GERD from lapband.  I already had serious problems with GERD before surgery so that was one of my determinative factors. Good luck to you!

Hi and welcome to OH!!! You are going to love it here!! It is a great place for support, WLS education, and GREAT friends!!! Congrats on taking the first step to your new life!  I see you have Dr. Callory, do you live in San Diego? He is in Poway which is where I live. I have another friend that is looking into the lapband with Callory too.  Don't be a stranger and don't be afraid to ask any questions. The only dumb question is the unasked one!!! Keep us posted!  May God bless your journey!!         hugs, Becky

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!  In answer to one question-we're not stationed, my husband is retired Navy (we married 2 years ago, so we were never together when he was in)--but I was raised in the Marine Corps, so am very familiar with the military life.   In answer to Becky-- I called Callery --too funny of a name for a weight loss surgeon!--, anyway, called first thing this am, never heard back, called at 4, was told he doesn't take my ins, sorry buh bye.  So I called ucsd, needed to call a diff # to schedule appt along w/seminar since I live in Julian. called that #, told I had to call another # to get a medical id #. got that, called back, and was told the first available pre-surgury consult is in DECEMBER!!!!  And here I am thinking I will be well on my way to weight loss by December!  Sooo, I will call PB where your doc is on Monday if you reccommend them.   Also thanks to the person *****fferred me to the lightweights--there is so much to see on this site, it will take time to get to figure it all out and get to know you all.  I hope not until DECEMBER though!!!
