Need some help. I live in the "great high desert" I use to be able to keep my skin moist, but now, OMG I feel like one big dry patch. I'm sure that it is due to the lack of fat in the diet, but nothing is working. I have baby oil soaking in now, but i don't think that's gonna do it either.I'm only 3 1/2 weeks post op. What do you peeps do? ....Thanks, Laura

I am a desert rat too and had a devil of a time adjusting to the low humidity here when I first moved here. I never really noticed dryer skin after wls. I have never been an oily skinned person either. I use Aveeno all the time which works well. Then I recently just looking around bought this bottle of Oil ofOlay...I think it is called Quench...it is in a purple bottle. WOW does that make your skin soft! I also use Gold Bond lotion....love the smell of it. I think the trick is switching it around. Lotions do not have to be expensive to work...ya just have to keep using it constantly!

Congrats on your recent wls....I wish you much success! Bounce

I understand the dry skin issue after WLS, as I have it on me too. This topic has been discussed at the 3 support groups I attend, and dry skin happens to a lot of people post op. Flax seed oil or fish oil supplements can help this a lot. I started taking some flax seed oil once daily about 2 weeks ago, and already notice a difference, without any topical lotions applied.

Hi! I too use Oil of Olay "Quench"...the one in the purple bottle like Janine had posted. It is so great! Its kinda pricey compared to others...but so worth it. It really makes your skin soft and has a bit of "glow" in the lotion so looks really nice too...I love it and never have dry skin! Try it! Dang, I should get paid for promoting their product...

BIG Hugs,
Lisa

Thank You for all your support. I think I have some flax seed oil. Huskers didn't do it. I will get the Oil of Olay.

Any oil supplement will do wonders for you, but also there is a MIRACLE lotion out there that is like nothing I have ever used before.  It is hard to find but if you can find it, buy as many as you can.  Its called HEMPZ.  It is made from hemp seed extract.  OMG I cant live without it.  It is pricy though, but the price is completely justified.  I pay about $19.00 for a large bottle.  I use it on my entire body including my face, and a little goes a LONG way.  I believe that is why my skin has held up so well in my face after 200lb weight loss.  I also use this religiosly on my feet.  I have issues with really dry, cracked heels that bleed and this has solved my problem!!! Try it!
