I'm Home

Hi there everyone. I just wanted to update that I came home yesterday around 12:30 p.m. So, I was in the hospital for less than 2 full days. Crazy, huh? I ended up walking around 27 times, and I was able to take in all the liquids that they gave to me. I'm still feeling pretty good, but I wish this darn bloated feeling/gas would go away. Also, does anyone have any advice on how to get in/out of bed comfortably? I havne't seemed to master that. Anyway, thank you all again for your help and encouragement. Thanks for making room on the Loser's Bench for me!!!

Congrats!!  I have no advice as I have not made it to the Loser's Bench yet.  But I wanted to say thanks for your posting as it is encouraging  and hopeful to those who still wait and worry.  Best of luck to you!

Hey Girl!  Glad you are home.  I was out in under 24 hours too.  I just wanted to be home.   I felt bloated for a least a week.  It was bizare.  I think between the swelling and everything getting re-arranged in there it takes awhile.  Just wear those comfy clothes and walk alot.  (I remember I wore my pants pulled up under my boobs for comfort!) I had problems getting out of bed too.  Be sure you scoot as far to the edge as possible and turn yourself so you can push up with your arms.  Those tummy muscles stay sore.  It kind of feels icky when the incision sites pull a little too.   Keep walking, keep sippin tha****er...sugar free popcicles are great too! Keep us posted.  Congrats again April!  hugs, Lisa

Hi April

Welcome home and to the losers bench!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO MAKING IT TO THE LOSERS SIDE.

As for any help getting in and out of bed, I'm not a good one for that as I didn't seem to have any problems in that area. I was so tired by time I went to bed I just sort of climb up into my bed and strectched out and slept. I really don't know how I did it as the bed is one of those beds that is very high and on a pedestal. it comes up to my waist.

WOW you finally did it and your on your way to a happier and healthier life. I'm so happy for you. Much success to you on your wonderful journey!

I'm sure someone will have some advice for you as far as getting into bed. Keep walking around and that will help the bloating and gas problem.

Take Care and sip sip sip and WALK WALK WALK.

Hey April, glad your home and feeling OK.  A few ideas.  Some people end up sleeping in comfortable chairs or recliners the first week or so.  Even the floor may work.  Over the years I have heard people use pillows at different angles to get their sleep and rest.  So try different places; bed, couch, floor, chairs.  Concerning the gas...What I am about to tell you is what I have heard.  These may or may not work, buy you may want to try (they may sound strange, but I'll throw them out anyways).  Try getting on the floor and roll around slowly (don't hurt the incisions).  Being on the floor and having your feet up on a chair or a couch (turning slighly).  Working the gas out of your belly like you would work a charlie horse out of a muscle (literally pushing it through your system).  The last one is doing toe touches.  Bend over like your tying your shoes, as you keep your knees straight.  Each day will get easier and eaiser.  The first few weeks are so boring!!  But as you move on to puree you will find you will be dropping quickly and new found energy should be there.  Heal quickly and enjoy the ride.  Brian
