I'm overweight! (Long post from a 4 year post op)

Hello Rach:

Stacie here "standing up", I am +6 years post op, up 30 pounds from my very lowest and 15 from my "average daily weight that my skin is comfortable in". I am once again feeling the same way you do, my clothes are uncomfortable, I hate shopping, I hate getting dressed, I hate the bloated fat feeling I am feeling all day long.  Everyday I think I am going to improve my daily habits, starts off real well, but by mid day I find myself grazing on too many things.  I am a food addict, I dont eat when I am hungry, I eat because I like food in my mouth, the minute the "full" feeling passes I want to eat again.

I know my downfalls: carby snacks ( sure they are low fat,  or fruits, but damn it they are still fattening), too much alcohol, diet soda, not enough water, and way too little exercise).

I have not yet accepted the term failure, I think knowing what the issues are is a great start to fixing the issue.

I REFUSE to become that almost 300 pound person I once was.

Thank you for the sobering post.

WLS is not a magic bullet, it is a daily choice of good decisions for life long health! What do you choose to do today?

Hello my friend, What can I say, but I hear ya! I responded to someone that replied privately with this: I'm still fighting, but I'm changing my focus. I'm fighting to stop resenting the fact that I'll never be normal in terms of food. I need to be ok with that before I can move on (I think). Well, I'm hear if you need to lean on me...what's the saying about two falling people propping each other up? Hugs, Rachel

Rachel, thanks for the honest post that I know is not easy to write! I think the more of the honest stuff that we read, the more we are able to accept reality and cope with our "demons" that WLS doesn't help us with! I just went on a cruise that showed me that I can get away with more than I am happy with! I don't like that knowledge at all and realize I need to have way more self control and will power than I thought!  I am almost 1 year out and I have gone up and down the same 5 pounds for about 3 months. I'm super thrilled with the 100 pounds I've lost, but I'm not done and have to get back on track. I plan on doing the 5DPT starting on Monday to hopefully jumpstart me again. I need to get back to my food tracking too so I know what is the cause. I don't think I eat enough, but we will see!  I will keep you in my prayers for getting back on track, you can do it!!! (((((((((((Rachel)))))))))) YOU GO GIRL with your honest self!!!  God bless, Becky

Howdy Becky, I love cruising! I did really well on my first one post op. But the second one gave me an easy 5lbs gain :-(

I think I'm going to try the 5dpt with Beatrice. We all need to stay in touch and cheer each other on!

Keep on fighting, Rachel

I know about flaking. I was supposed to start on Sunday (as well as be on the wagon.) Ate and sandwich and had wine instead (two glasses instead of the whole bottle and a half that was available.) but fell off the wagon none the less.  Day two almost down! Thanks for the encouraging words!
