OT: Love Hate relationship with computer

I love my Mac, but, I really need to format and clean it up as my daughter messed it up really bad, hard to explain, but it's a mess. My problem right now that I hate is; I can't get the back up to work. grrrrrrrr so, there it is, love it/hate it. just needed to get that off my shoulder

Girrrrrrl I so hear you there. I hate my computer...and yet I love it. IF it was not for Steve, I would have toss it out the window. Twice!!

I hope you feel better since you got that off shoulder.

I hear you, Darlene... I have to 3 that I need to do that to... my desktop has been destroyed by my kids... it's got a 300GB hard drive that I don't look forward to backing up and rebuilding, plus the case is big and dirty -  I think I'm gonna rip the whole thing apart and maybe add a new cooling system. My Macbook needs work as well - I messed up my i-work and i-life, and my i-DVD programs so that none of them work! But again - too much work to back it all up and start over... Finally, my G4 powerbook - it works ok.. but I need to redo the hard drive and get it emptied up so I can use if for my recording computer - music only on that one! Hope your backup issue is resolved quickly and that you're able to be back in gear soon! C h e e r s, gene

I can't get any of my back up programs to back up on dvd for me. My extra hard drive is full and my music in iTunes tripled. I have over 7,000 songs on it and they doubled and tripled. I want to erase all them and just take the 7,000 off my ipod and start over. I just need to back up......so I can format......

Do you have or can you get a big external hard drive - I ended up buying a couple of 500GB hard drives over the last year - one died! The other one is the one I use to back up my main  MacBook - I just connect it and drag the files I need - I haven't done the DVD backup thing. I tunes is starting to take over my hard drive again so I'll prolly back it up again and then start over with minimal music and movies - I keep it all up on my external drive so I can always get songs back if I need them.  After discussing this with you here I may just bite the bullet it do it... but I have so many programs that I bought and don't know where the serial/passwords are. I guess I have my work cut out! C h e e r s, gene

Make sure you back up your email as that is where I found a lot of my passwords and such.... The external I have now is an 80 gb and has files on it from when I went from pc to mac. I just may have to get another one but rather use the dvd's instead.... I also have lots of movies converted for my ipod so will have to figure something out...I know I can not empty my trash can as that has all my finder stuff in it.....
