Jump starting the weightloss again
Hello to all,
I have been a secret reader of this messageboard for approx. 2 years now. I had my RNY surgery approx. 2 and 1/2 years ago. I lost 95 lbs. after my surgery in approx. 1 and 1/2 time. My problem now is that the weight is starting to come back and I am getting really depressed and scared over it. I read a post from a member back in 2005 that gave a "jump start" for losing weight again. I think it said something about shrinking the pouch if you felt like it had stretched to large. Does anyone remember that post? Or know how I can get back to losing weight like I had been. I am guilty of not exercising like I was and I started eating a lot of breads. So, I would appreciate any advice any of you may have for me. Yes, and I would even listening to some scolding .
I think you may be thinking of the 5 Day Pouch Test. Here's a link. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ Good luck!

Hi Nurse! I too am 2 1/2 years out. I lost 127 lbs then I hit a plateau. After gaining 40 lbs back, I finally said enough is enough and I am now working on getting back on track. I started walking again. My doctor said I had to walk 2 miles a day and I was doing that pretty faithfully. But at some point, I got sick and didn't go walking and made excuse after excuse why I couldn't everyday. I made the promise to go tomorrow, etc.... needless to say, that is what contributed to my weight gain. Well that and eating way too much crap. DUH!!!! Well.... I have tried to cut out sugar, potatoes and bread. Some days I'm successful, other days not so much. I have also tried to up my protein intake (that's the one thing I wasn't very good at from the start). I walk everyday (2 miles) and I try to get all of my water in plus my vitamins. I tried the 5 day pouch test. When I got to day 3 or 4 I didn't stick to it. To be quite honest, it really didn't make my stomach feel any different and it gave me a horrible headache. Some days my stomach will let me eat and some days it says I don't think so. That's just the way it is. I say watch what you eat and drink, start to get some exercise and see if that helps you feel better. I know just the walking alone has made a world of difference. I hope I have been even a little bit of help. Take Care!! Leslie
Thank you for your replies. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has gone through this. I will check out the "pouch test" and just start back from square one like my doctor always told me. My other question is do you all still drink your protein drinks like we did right after our surgeries? I still do, but haven't been as faithful as I use to be.
