OMG!!! OMG!!! NO ONE TALKED ABOUT THE PAIN

OK, What's up, everyone fess up.  No one told me that the pain would like this.  My left side feels as if someone is constantly sticking me with a knife.  My surgeon, says it is normal,   Well I wanted to wake up in recovery and not feel any pain, I hate pain and hate pain pills, so I guess I'm screwed. Already cried, been depressed and felt sorry for myself.    I hate being in the house, I love going, going, going and going, and now all I do is walk around the house, sip water, eat jello and soup. How do people watch TV all day?    What the heck was I thinking?  Once, again my expectation is different than reality.  Finally had a BM today, not a lot of gas, just a lot of pain, called the surgeon and they wanted me to come back to Harbor City, However, I have no friends that don't work and had not ride, so when I finally was honest and told them that  I did not take the pain meds for a full day (did I mention that I hate meds?)  They told me to take the meds for 24 hours and let them know how I feel.   I bet Dr. Zane bit off more than he could chew when he decided to cut on me I have not been able to drink all of my fluids, but doing ok. Well enough of my post op moaning and groaning. Shardon

Well, all I can say is YES, that pain is normal.  I had it too, although mine was not as bad as yours.  I have a high tolerance for pain so I am lucky for that. I live in Riverside too.  What part of Riverside are you in?

Awww you are making me feel bad for you!  It will go away.  I went through the same emotions just not the pain.  I was more PO'ed because I couldn't lay on my side for almost 2 weeks.  It is all normal I promise and take those damn pain meds.  I know you hate them, but I can quarantee you will like them when they make the pain go away. Keep a stiff upper lip.  I PROMISE you, all of this will go away and when you see the clothes getting bigger, and the scale numbers going down, you will forget about all of this. If you need to call, you know the numbers....please feel free.  GLAD to see you back on the computer and out of bed. Hugs, from your angel....

Utoh, Now I'm worried - I can only take 20 mg of vicodin a day or a get a huge headache.  Did you have 4 or 5 incisions?  I hope you feel better by tomorrow!

Hey Girl!!!

Yeah I am out of the bed, took my meds, now on ES Tylenol. Went to day 2 of my conference in Torrance and the hotel accommodated by liquid diet at the formal dinner, but I took a huge chance by not being prepared in advance, learned not to do that again.

I give you a call after my post Op appointment on 4/28.

Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!  I am so glad that you got yourself out of bed and went to that conference.  You go girl, you are doing amazing.  A lot of this whole surgery thing is learning by experience,  Call me after 6 on the day of your appt, I am NOW employed!   Keep taking good care of yourself and take those tylenol, don't let the pain ever get bad, that is why they give us pain med. Hugs, Diane

I too had A LOT of pain. Good thing is... it eases up...

Now, I'm ready for plastics and really am concerned about the pain as my lap RNY was hideously painful along with the wrenched back.

My best to you,

Kim
