I called Healthnet yesterday and was informed that they approved my referral to go see Dr. Waldrep in Roseville.  Does this mean that I won't have to complete a 6 month diet before surgery?  I'm totally confused on whether you are denied from the original referral or when the bariatric surgeon puts in the surgery request to Healthnet.  What experience has everyone else had when dealing with Healthnet?  I have great benefits - only pay $5 for office visits and prescriptions. (good o'l teacher's union!) Any kind of info you can give me will be most appreciated by this worrier!  April in Sac

I have Healthnet also you are aproved to see the surgeon not to have the surgery that come after you see him and they send in all your info. As far a the 6mo diet they never told me I had to but right before I was to have my surgey they denided me and I called them to ask why and that is when they said I need a 6mo diet so they let me fax them prof that I did nutrisystem and then I was approved. They sent me to DR. Fuller at ucd My first vist was in november and I had surgery on 2/11/08. Stacie

Thanks Stacie!  I thought maybe that was the case!  I did Weigh****chers Online last year but I don't think that will count.

I have HealthNet HMO and didn't have to do the 6 months. I first met the Dr. in late Nov and had sugery 4/15/08. The longest thing was getting the appointments for all the tests the Dr. wanted but after that it flew by. they only took a couple of days was everything was in. Good luck.

Thanks for the info everyone! Being a high school teacher, I would really like to have the surgery before school starts again in the fall so I don't have to take any time off.  That gives me until the day after Labor Day!  JWinters, how are you doing now that you are almost 10 days post op?  Any advice for the rest of us wannabees?

I had Healthnet for my surgery to, which was on March 25th.  They did not have me go through the 6 month diet program either.  Healthnet was very good.  Good luck!
