UCSF or Sacramento Bariatric

I found out my insurance, Blue Shield of CA, plan only covers bariatric surgeries in my area at UCSF or Sacramento Bariatric. (Both are 4 hours away.) Does anyone have any suggestions/likes/dislikes or opinions about either place? A favored Dr. perhaps? Thanks.

When I researched UCSF, the program process took 2 years. I was not willing to wait that long. So based on that alone, I would go with Sac Bariatrics.

Highest 6/98: 289 1st consult 9/07: 260 5'11"
WLS 1/7/08: 234 Lowest 8/08: 164.5

Lap Band on 10/16/08

I am going through Sacramento Bariatrics, Dr. Laura Machado. I really like her. She explained everything very well to me, was very personable and her staff is excellent. I have BCBSIL and I was denied because I had not completed my 6 month supervised weighrt loss. I am now in my 4th so it looks like june/July for me! Hopefully anyway! I would suggest to go to one of her Seminars and meet and talk with herr in person. You can also read the reviews posted on her. Good luck! Jeni
