What lies ahead for me?

I have Health Net HMO and got my PCP to give me a referral for WLS.  I got the referral to the surgeon this week and made an appointment to see Dr. Paya in West Hills.   So, my question?? Since, I got the referral does that mean I am in a good place to get the WLS?  Does anyone have any experience with Health Net or Dr. Paya? I have a BMI o**** and have been on a diet since I was around 13.  I am now 32!  I hope this is a good sign that I got the referral to see Dr. Paya?

I have no experience with your insurance nor the doctor, but I wanted to wish you the best and I hope you are able to get through all the hoops that sometimes happens when waiting anxiously. I would think that it is a good sign. Keep us posted on what happens....we are here for support through the good times and the bad ones!

I had Health Net HMO for my surgery in June 2006. Before I even got the referral to the surgeon I had to go through 6 months of weight management classes. It still took me a while after the referral because my surgeon wanted some things done (upper and lower scopes) because of my history and I had to go back to my PCP for more referrals and there were more than a few hangups with those. BUt once everything was done surgery was scheduled very quickly. Good luck. It's a wonderful thing. Lisa

I just had WLS on Tuesday and I have HealthNet HMO and got my referral to she the Dr. and I just needed to do the test that he wanted and didn't have to do the 6 months of classes. Once I got everything done I was approved in a few days and had my WLS 5 weeks laters. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for the warm welcomes and the advice.  I hope this is not a huge battle as I am going into feeling defeated.
