I'm HOME!!
Goood MORNING CALIFORNIA!!!!!!
I wanted to thank everyone that sent messages and so much support my way, you are all greatly appreciated.
My surgery was Tues morning At UCLA Santa Monica, I went in very comfortably, the anesthesiologist gave me an awesome ****tail, it was so good I only recall waking up to hear my loved ones saying "hey!" up in my room. The first night and second day were very scary, upon my first attempt to get up to walk, I started throwing up blood. At first I was told that it was normal and to be expected, but I felt this hot full feeling in my stomach and I was not so sure at that point. I could see the worry in everyones eyes, and I tried not to seem scared... but I was shaking in my boots.
I later found out that during my surgery a staple had cut or pierced a vessel in my pouch! The Surgeon felt that if my stomach continued to hold the pooling blood that the pressure would force the cut to stop bleeding. I sure wish he would have let me know... Then I could have been more prepared for what I was going through! On Wednesday night the blood just kept coming up...but by two in the morning it completely stopped and I felt completely better!
All I could think was "Thank God!!"
Thursday I was allowed to start drinking and have been on my way to recovery since!
The point of my telling everyone my experience is to make sure that the next person going into surgery is prepared to ask if there were any complications during the procedure and if so what was to be expected. Being in the dark is very scary!
I am truly blessed that during my entire stay at the hospital I was surrounded by so many people that I love and I know would do anything for me.
