I registered for the Santa Monica 10k.  Today is the last day to sign up for $35.  Tomorrow the price goes up to $40.  Participants get a free Nike shirt and membership to Heal the Bay.

For more details including a free training regimen go to www.santamonicaclassic.com

The event is on Sunday May4th.  The course sounds beautiful, going along the coastline.

5k begins at 7:30am

10k begins at 8:00am

I registered and noticed that there was a special "Athena" division for women 150lbs+, and for the men who are 200lbs+....Clydesdale.   LOL! Clydesdale???!?!
So, who's in???

I am going to sign up today.  I don't think I am ready for a 10K just yet.
Without struggle, there is no progress.

I will sign up....and do the 10k WITH you Monica!!!!!!  It is a great 10k (Kevin and I did it last year), although even near the beach, it was really hot out there!

I tried doing 4 miles on Saturday but it got too hot and I walked back home.  So I did about 3+ miles.   I'm going to try again this weekend.

I run about 45 seconds and walk 1 minute.....but I don't have a fancy running watch yet to time my intervals.  Any suggestions on where I can get one for cheap?

Go to Target or Walmart.  It doesn't have to be expensive....  Mine is, but there are others out there that are just as good.  Try to run a bit longer, but also walk longer.  You probably need more than 1 minute to recover.  I would try to run for 1 minute, and walk for 2.....then eventually get to a 2 minute run, 2 minute walk.  The longer recovery is the key to going further!  :-)

I'm not into the running yet (looking forward to that after my surgery towards the end of the year) but to show my support to all of you wonderful people I will be volunteering at the Classic - probably at the Registration Tables. I'll let ya'll know more as I know more!

39 lbs lost prior to surgery!
