I think my protein bar is making me dump.

So I'm working here at my desk minding my own business.  It's been really really REALLY busy here the last few days.

I had a green salad for lunch and to boost my protein I started eating a Pure Protein bar (300 calories, 10g fat, 26g carbs - 3g sugars, 31g protein)   They're pretty much the only bar I eat.  I buy them by the box and keep one in my purse all time in case I'm stuck somewhere without a healthy choice to eat.

Never had a problem until right now.  My pouch is gurgling up a storm as if it's mad at me. I've made more than a few visits to the ladies room.

I don't get it, is this even possible?  Will I not be able to eat these bars anymore?

Yes it is possible, because that is what I ate, and time and time again, my tummy would sound like a volcano waiting to erupt.  I ran to the bathroom, time after time too.  One day I just didn't eat one, and I felt better, the next day I didn't have it again, and each day from then on, I got better and better.  Then I started the Worldwide Drinks, and there I went all over again, so I quit those too.  I am much better now, and won't be eating any kind of protein bar, or drinking any drinks.  I get all my protein from foods. Hugs, Diane

Auntie D!

Your pouch gets mad at you too? ;) I was just taken by surprise since I ate them before with no problem.  That's pretty impressive you get all your protein from food!  I still need a little help sometimes.

How are your new knees treating you?

My knee is healthier and alot happier.  There is still pain and it does still get bad once in awhile, but I have about 3 more weeks of therapy and should be good as new after that.  I am walking on a threadmill and doing an olipitical (sp)  It kicks my butt, but it feels good on the knee once I get it going.  Now it's all about getting it strong. I may try them again and try breaking them up throughout the day, but the rumbling hurts. Take good care, Hugs, Auntie D

Hi Monica!! I was in long beach recently and thought about you. I see your posts often and you look fantastic.  Are you hitting any support groups out there?  I would love to start going to some.  I have not gone consistently since my surgery and i know now is the time to really do it.  If so, let me know.  I would love to come to one with you. My first question is, maybe you are eating more of the bar now than you did before.  Those bars, although very low in sugar, do have alot of SUGAR ALCOHOLS, and for some, depending on the type of sugar alcohol, it can have the same effect.  If you are eating, lets say, 1/2 the bar now (and you were only eating 1/3 before) that extra little bit could be just a bit more than your system wants to handle at this point.  Think about that.  And, my suggestion would be to break the bar up into four snacks throughout the day, therefore in a sense "time releasing" the sugar alcohols and still gettting that huge 31g of protien.  I have a feeling this will work for you. I love those bars.  There is also one called "Supreme Protien" and I have only seen it in Vitamin Shoppe stores.  It is absolutely amazing.  Maybe that one would be friendlier to your tummy. Hope you find your solution to your problem.  I know those bars a great help and I depend on them many times in a week to get me through.   Take care and you look great. Connie

You know.....I usually only eat half, put the rest in my purse and eat the rest hours later or even the next day!!   This is the first time I finished a whole bar!

Next time you're in Long Beach call me, we exchanged numbers before.  I think I have yours.

It's been a while since I've been to s upport group meeting.  When I did go it would be on Thursday nights in Fountain Valley.  If you're ever in the area on a Thursday night, let me know we can go.

Monica,

Sometimes the greens bother me so that could be it too! I dunno about the bars as I can't seem to choke one down no matter what brand they are...LOL
Now if the shakes begin to bother me I am in a protein bind! As I still have to use at least one a day to keep up my intake. I hope that otherwise you are doing well!! "cuz I love my angel!!
