Just wanted to know if any one has been able to eat any type of cold cereal,  I am about 1 month out and would love to have some type of cold cereal, of course with splenda and soy milk.  Any suggestions. Thank you in advance.

If you can find a low carb hi protein cereal then good for you.  But the name of this game is low carb and I have yet to find one that I can eat and lose weight with.  Milk, I don't know about soy, also has carbs.  Good luck

I would start out with just a couple bites. I tried cereal at about 3 months post op and it sat really heavy and upset my stomache...so just be careful. Good Luck!

I would say to stay away from it!  If you start on carbs at one month out, you will really have a HARD time later on. Form good eating habits now, and it gets easier as time goes by.  I still do not eat cereal, rice, pasta, bread, potatoes, tortillas, chips, etc and I will be three years out on the 27th of this month! Stacie I am going to have to agree with JudyAnne here for sure....stay away from the carbs! Something like cereal can impede your wl this early on and later cause you grief because of the carbs. I got hooked into eating dry cereal this past year and I paid dearly for it.

Being one month out, I would rather try finding ways to get in all your protien and your water instead of useless cereal.

I am nearly 6 years out and think cereal is EVIL!

Good luck!

o0o no girlfriend. Step away from the cereal! lol. Just don't do it. Everyone says carbs are bad, evil, no good down right dirty little creatures!  AND They are so right!!! Especially now in the early stages of your recovery. Stick to your proteins. I am almost 4 yrs out and carbs still play evil games on my body. They make you tired, sluggish, lazy, add the lbs slowly or quickly back on that you worked so hard to get off. They just aren't worth it. Sorry. I know espeically now in the early stages, you want to try this and that and crave some of the things you used to eat before. But its more of a mental game than anything. Gotta get your mind around and over that hill of what ya ate before... and onto the new hill of what you can eat now.

Hi! I agree with the ladies. I'm 4 years out and struggling with weight gain. I wish, when I was early out, I worked on establishing better habits. I know it seems hard, but looking back...it would have been a lot easier than facing the rapid weight gain I'm experiencing now. Sorry to get 'heavy' on you (pun intended), but thought you might benefit from my mistake. :-) Rachel

I started with cereal about 6 weeks out.  I hope your surgery center provided you with a plan/diet menu to follow? Regarding carbs, I'm two years out and I do have carbs.  I think that you have to learn good habits and eat in moderation.  A must thing to do is.....exercise, exercise, exercise......

My CNP told me I could do cold cereal in the mornings at around 4 weeks out. I started at about 5 weeks out and I love it. Don't forget that not all carbs are created equal. A 1/2 cup of white rice is not the same as a 1/2 cup of whole wheat cereal. Yes, it might affect ketosis but overall weight-loss boils down to calories in vs. calories burned.
