Up your exercise and lower the intake of calories to keep losing. TRy swimming too.

As far as moving the surgery process just have all the requirements done on grad day, lab tests , make up classes etc

Good luck

I finished my options class on 2/29/08 and had all my labs done and make-up on that date.  My consult was on 3/17/08 and pre-op on 4/14/08.  I could have had my surgery on 4/4/08, but did not have a ride to the hospital.  I am scheduled for surgery on 4/18/08 (Friday) in less than 2 months.   My surgeon did not care that I had not lost the 30 pounds that Options required, I guess that it depend s on the surgeon.  However, if you give up all carbs for the next 6 weeks, you will lose a minimum of 25 pounds.   God Bless. Hi Shardon, Thanks for the info.  Alot of people in my current track are worried because we have not lost as much as they expect us to so...can I ask where did u choose to have surgery?  We have the potion between pacific bariatrics and ucla medical center.  I dont know which one to choose since I hear so many different stories on which one would be faster and better.  Then I hear UCLA is vey strick on the matter so Iam so confused.

I went throug Kaiser too, but not the Options program, as I had participated in a documented weight loss program before. But I still had a nutrional class to attend for several weeks. After my consult, my surgeon suggested I lose some weight in the next 3 weeks prior to surgery. Wt. loss just prior to surgery lessens the fatty liver, making the LAP RNY procedure much easier to do. I stopped diet soda, exercised some, watched amount eaten at meals, no sweets, and did not eat after dinner. With minimum effort like this, I managed to lose 17 pounds, and the surgeon was happy. Surgery was on May 10, 2006.

I went through Kaiser Options here in So Cal...feel free to read my profile.  I finished in October 2008 and had surgery November 26, 2008 less then 2 months.  I didn't loose the required 10% I believe by the time I had surgery I actually had gained. My only advice is to follow a post-op diet.  High protein, low carbs, exercise, 64oz of water.  Not sure if Maywood is So Cal or Nor Cal as I believe there is a difference. Continued success. It can be quite disheartening but do NOT give up hope!!  That's what many of us have done to many times.  Just keep doing what you can and keep having failth.  Just keep focusing on what they taught us in the class.  Portion control, protein first etc.  You'll get there darlin. Ms Shell
