I have not been to this site in just over 3 years, shortly after I had my surgery. Now I am need of some help. I have found myself in a slight state of depression becuase of a bad last year that attributed to a weight gain that I fear will not stop. I have a great support system at home, he just doesn't fully understand, he has never been overweight. He tells me all the time how great I look, but I don't see it anymore. I had a bad last year in the end. I lost about 50 pounds due to really poor eating habits, starving myself from depression. I lost it so quickly too, which made it worse. It came back with vengence and gained 15+ pounds more. For the first time in 3 years I have had to go up sizes in clothes. This is why I came back here. I knew that there would be people that understand where I am at and can help me through this. Tomorrow morning I am getting up earlier, walking the dog, and then going to the gym in my complex. I have one where I live and where I work, so I have no excuse. I am surrounded by places to exercise, I just do not want to. I have also started to keep track of what I am eating online as of today. So I am on the right track, but can't do it alone. I thank you all in advance and look forward to talking to everyone.

Hi Kristen!

I am moving up to your neck up the woods next week, so if you want to schedule some time to get together to exercise, let me know. Maybe we help hold each other accountable. :)

We will be up in Rocklin....

take care,

Denise

Like Jodi said no matter how good your support is at home, no one understands unless they have walked a mile in your shoes being overweight.

I am nearly 6 years post op and by the end of last summer, I pretty much started eating carbs and kept on doing so until I gained a siginificant amoun of weight. 25 pounds to be precised. At Christmas time I decide enough was enough and I had to take responsibility or throw away everything I worked so hard for.

You have to remember that only your body was operated on and you have to learn different coping mechanisms or otherwise you are going to gain weight at some point. Food was our friend and comforted us in times when we did not know how to cope.

I put myself on the 5 day pouch test and have not looked back since. I am 37 pounds lighter, never thought I would ever wear a size 10 pants (which some of the are getting loose already), and I got myself in counseling too.

There is a key to success...we all know it....what the carbs, portion control (and yes we can eat more the further out we are),  exercise and drink water. All basic stuff.

I have lost as much weight as I have because I have not eaten one cracker, piece of bread, no ceral, potato, pasta, rice....zippo and have kept my carbs from one fruit and veggies along with my protien to 40-50 grams of carbs a day.

Here is the link to the 5 -day pouch test:

Bravo to you for getting off your butt and realizing you cannot do it alone!!!!

I am 3 years out. I had gained back 20 lbs by january this year. I didnt do the pouch test but I suffered and got off of all carbs completely. For about 2 weeks, it was miserable!!! Then it got better. And I lost the 20 I hd gained. I used sparkpeople.com to help me. I havent elimated all carbs now.. I still eat oatmeal, on occasion have a wholewheat bread sandwich, mostly veggies there and in general got rid of the crap. I also bought a decent scale an I weigh myself EVERY morning. I know that doesnt work for everyone. But it does for me. I know what my magic number is and my goal is to DAILY resolve to not touch that number again. Good luck to you!
