Hi, Does anyone know if kaiser will cover arm lifts?  I have a lot of skin that rubs together and causes rashes.  Thanx a lot. Kami

Kaiser has expert Plastic surgeons at most of their hospitals.  It's a matter of playing the Kaiser game.  You have to get a referral to the Plastic surgery dept. and make sure to tell the PCP that you are unable to live a normal life by the pain and suffering these rashes cause and that your are limited to movement in fear of infections and open wounds!  I'm telling you it's all about the game play with them.  And if you don't get anywhere that way, go for the grievance and/or appeals process.  If that doesn't work you can appeal to the state board for this and it most always gets approved.  Good  luck, Terri

Since you haven't had your WLS yet, I'd wait for plastics!!  Best of luck on both. JudyAnne

Thank you for getting back to me JudyAnne.  I've been thinking and thinking and thinking and I've decided to put the wls ahead of the armlift, afterall.  I guess I've been putting the cart before the horse because I'm sick of all these rashes.  It does make sense, though.  It'd be stupid to go ahead with this lift, then lose more weight and then have to go through with repeat surgery to remove more skin.  Thanks again for your fast reply.  Hope all is well.

Be safe and well, B.B.

I work for Kaiser  and it is always a surpride as to what they will pay for...it never hurts to try...so ask...and if they say no now  try again later ....the answer may change     good luck PS   I also work for a local plastic surgeon  and that procedure is not extremely expensive. CHEERS, Mike

Thanks so much for getting back to me Mike.  I'm going to take your words to heart.  The 1st step for me is to get approved for wls.  My Kaiser coverage is supposed to start next month so I guess we'll see how the journey begins.  Take care.

Be safe and well, B.B.
