Roxie, I finished my Options classes 04/30/07 had my consult on 5/24/07 had surgery on 6/18/07 so within 6 weeks I was scheduled for surgery.  Like everyone said, make sure all of your tests are completed, I notified my PCP that she would be getting the packet for approval and asked her to sign off and return to the Bariatic dept asap and the rest is history.

I think that Im just getting a little ansy about because I have mande up mind about 1  year ago and I just fell that this whole process is useless.  I mean I have found out more things here in this message board than in the classes itself.  I dont know.  If you do not loose the required 10 percent would that delay the surgery?

Roxie - I understand your frustration with the process.  My situation was a lot different because I wasn't initially looking for WLS when I went to the classes I was still making up my mind whether I even wanted to do this "nutty" thing.  I started the whole process because my PCP suggested it.  I thought well if they are willing to pay for it what the hell!  I realize now I was very depressed and resentful that I couldn't lose this weight on my own.  So for me the classes were perfect.  They made me realize that my life could be better than what it was.  If I had already researched the surgery and knew that it was what I wanted I would have been going crazy waiting that long.  As it was it was about 14 months from the time that the doctor put my name in to the time I had surgery.  I never lost the required 10% but I'm in So Cal and I know that each facility is different.  I hope that you will be scheduled very soon so that your wait can be over.  Once you are scheduled you will be amazed at how fast everything moves. Good Luck

I finished my Kaiser So Cal classes officially on Oct 1 (I had to make up one last class on Oct 8)  I had a few complications with blood tests etc.  I had my surgery on 11/26.  So 7 weeks after Oct 8. Ms Shell

My classes ended the beginning of March and my surgery was May 21. When we finished class it was the gall bladder scan that was soooo backed up and took the most time. You definitely need to be on top of it all and stay after them nicely!!  Best of luck to you!! May God bless your journey, Becky

Surgery was RNY 5/21/07...I can be found on Facebook: anewbecboo or Becky Reddick
