Last night I went to Big 5 Sporting Goods with a friend. He needed something.....I forgot what.  I was looking at all the clothing and I wanted to try stuff on because it's one of my little hobies now.

I saw these softball t-shirts that I think are so cute and they were on sale. So I put down my bag, take off my jacket and take a size Large off the rack.  (I just like to see how big/small I am because for me I have a hard time recognizing the transformation in me)

I put the large over my head, and over the t-shirt I was already wearing.  I could tell already it was the wrong size.  I'm poking my head through the neck and I say out loud to my friend

"I don't think I'm a large anymore."

He replies "Monica, you don't look the same...I don't think you get it.  That shirt is too big."

I pull the top over me and it's big around the shoulders and generally just too baggy.  I took it off and grabbed a size MEDIUM.  I put it on, and it fit!  I couldn't say anything. I was just looking at myself.

My friend says "Are you having one of those moments?"

I was stunned and almost wanted to start crying. All I could do was nod my head.  I've never worn anything in a size medium EVER.

I refrained from buying one of those t-shirts in every color...but I did buy one.

So yeah, my t-shirt today is a size Medium.  It will be a while before I wear a medium in other items of clothing but it was a big huge WOW moment for me.

My other news.....I wasn't going to say anything until I was ready.  But I can't keep quiet any longer.   I found a friend who is willing to train with me to do the Disney half-marathon.

Did you hear me Kirsten???

I'M GOING TO DO A HALF-MARATHON!!!!!!!!!

ROCK ON! You look super cute, and it is even better knowing how hard you have worked to get into that teensy little size M shirt!

Congrats on deciding to the half marathon, I am hoping that next year I can do the marathons with all you other runners out there!

I'll hold on to some things for you....I promise!!!

You'll be surprised at how much more you'll be able to move as you get smaller.  I wouldn't run out of a building burning.....seriously!! Now it's getting easier and easier.....so laugh now if you want but you might be next me at the starting line of a big event someday!!!!

You go girl!!  Baby steps on the running.  It takes a long long time for a 1/2 marathon.  Just run-walking a 5K is a winning note in my book.  Running non stop a 5K is a bigger victory for most.  Don't get discouraged if knee or feet problems arise along the way.  They really take a pounding.  It looks like your young and active so that shouldn't be a problem.  The skies the limit for you.  Brian

Hey Monica......long time no see.

Did you ever think that the shirt may have just ran big?????  Maybe after the first wash and dry it will shrink to a genuine Medium and it wont fit???
