Very Humbling Day! LOL!

I have been feeling so cool and proud of myself lately, thinking how great it is that I weigh less than I did in high school, and walking on the treadmill nearly everyday.  Well today was a brutal reminder that I still have a LONG way to go! I went to Carmel today, and parked at the end of Ocean Ave., right next to the beach.  I thought I had an AWESOME parking space, until I realized that the reason there were so many parking spaces by the beach is because you then have to walk back up the very steep hill to get to all the shops.  About half way up my chest was on FIRE, and I thought my lungs were going to explode.  My very petite friend was graciously acting like my lagging was no big deal, even though everyone else was sprinting past us.  We had to sit down for a while until my misery subsided.  So embarrasing!   Then we ate at this little place where the tables were very close together, and my friend innocently sat down in an outer seat, and expected me to slide in between these two tables to get to an inner seat.  I quickly realized that if I tried to slide in between those tables, I would undoubtedly knock this guy's plate off the table with my ample behind!  I suggested we sit at a different table! We then went over to Cannery Row in Monterey, and a parking lot attendant insisted that I park in this very tight parking space next to a low wall.  I didn't think too much about it, until I couldn't get out of the car!  I had to squeeze HARD to get out, I'm sure I have bruises on my behind!    I know, I know, I have made a lot of progress, but I still have quite a way to go!   Here's a pic of me and my friend.  It was very windy, so I have some crazy hair.  Come to think of it, this is pretty much what I look like when I wake up in the morning!

Cute picture!!! You still have a lot to be proud of and the rest will come faster than you think!!! Soon you will be saying things like "the old me couldn't have done that, or fit through there! "  You've done a great job so far and don't forget it!  The old you probably wouldn't have made it up the hill at all, gotten out of the car parked so close to the wall, etc, etc!! Thank you so much!  You're right, a few months ago I would have had to look at that parking attendant guy and just said "Sorry, I can't get out.  My booty's too big!"  How embarrassing would that have been?  LOL!

DeAnna even though you felt humbled today, you have to look at the bright side and see what you have accomplished so far! You look great, you are doing great with your wl and will look back at this experience this time next year and just have the hugest wow moment ever! Make it a point to go back there next year girl!

Keep up all the hard work!  

That's a good idea, because I was already saying to myself, "I am NEVER going to Carmel again!"  But hey, next year it will be me sprinting up that hill!  Too cool!

De Anna:  (((big hugs)))  Funny how little things like that can put a twist on your feelings.  Try not to focus on it.  Just think, before surgery you probably would not have even attempted to walk up that hill!  (I know exactly what you are talking about. I was there in Sept. and that hill kicked my rear too) I had one of those moments that humble you the other day too.  There I was sitting and playing with my kids and my daughter grabs my upper arm and pushes at it.  Of course it swings because the skin is a bit saggy there and she just laughs and blurts out "Momma, your arms are so wobbly now!"  (grrrr) ok...now my arms aren't as fat but now they wobble. hmmm. Which is worse?  I stewed on it awhile and then took it as a sign I need to step up my workouts! Girl, you are doing great so don't let anything get you down.  Focus on the positives!  Happy Friday!  Lisa

You are so kind!  Yes, I felt "fat" all day today, but kept reminding myself that I'm so much smaller than I used to be! You're lucky that your arms are just a bit saggy!  Mine are all out gross!  My terror of a nephew said to me one day, "Why are your arms so gross?"  I haven't worn anything shorter than 3/4 length sleeves since!  The last time I saw him, he said, "Why do you always wear those weird shirts?"  And I wonder why I don't have children!  Well, maybe someday I'll have a sweet one like yours who just says that my arms are "wobbly"!  That's not bad at all! 

Look at it this way, YOU MADE IT UP THAT HILL!!! So what you had to stop and rest, you still made it!

You are doing great, and you have a lot LESS of a way to go than you did when you started this journey!
