I'm trying not to be discouraged but its very hard not to
It has been about two months since my surgery. When I went to the doctor's on February 25th, I was overjoyed to see I had lost 28 pounds since surgery. I went to the doctor yesterday, and I showed a 12 pound gain I have been eating properly, taking my supplements, getting in what walking I can, went back to driving so I am climbing stairs at least 4 times a day. Over the last week and a half, almost two weeks, I have noticed it has been very hard to get my right leg into bed. It is swollen, tight, in the thigh. They measured it yesterday, it is about 7 inches larger than my left thigh. I know it has to be water, and I was reassured that is probably what the weight gain is from. Dr. Krahn asked about my liquid intake, told him I am up to about 3 quarts a day now, but not having to hit the bathroom constantly. He ordered a Chem 7 panel, said something about checking my electrolytes. I am miserable, it is difficult to walk with the monster leg. Tomorrow, since I already had my blood drawn, I am going to to back on my furosemide that is prescribed for me, see if it helps, and I go back to the doctor on the 3rd. Anyone ever had anything like this? I really felt devestated and upset when I saw that number on the scale yesterday.
Wow this sounds eerily like Lymphedema. Something I had in my lower legs prior to WLS. Not sure that it would come on this quickly and after you lost weight, but its something to ask about.
Water retention in the body can cause a lot of weight gain, so I wouldn't stress about that. Once you get tha****er out, weight will go back down.
I bet the blood results will reveal what's going on, so hang tight and keep positive.

Hey, I know it's discouraging, but hang in there. Continue to do what the doctor says and don't miss a doctors visit. You need to keep on top of whatever is going on with you. It's really important. Do take those water pills. I have had problems with my scale doing crazy things too, but when there is a large weight gain it is usually water. Hang touch, I promise you things will get better.

Oh my goodness, this is horrible and i would be totally discouraged, too!
I pray that your doctor helps you get to the bottom of this...
best wishes...
